2.5 Years SVR: Platelets improving?

Just received a regular CBC, and my platelets have come close to low normal. 137 on a 140-400 normal scale. They had appeared to possibly be trending down, but then hit a new 4 year high water mark on this test. WBC's were in normal range, even if on the low side.

The history: Stage 4; GT 3a; 26 wks Peg + ample RIBA. Procrit and Nuep to round it all out. Platelets/WBC pre TX 112/3.5 now 137/4.7. It could be that I'm inching my way toward normalcy.....

What is the HR cocktail. Sounds like something I need to know . The 22nd of this month is 2 months since I took my last pill.

Here's a quick update: 2015 and platelets were continuing their slow creep up. I began the HepTech protocol (HR's cocktail) a month ago and platelets took a 28K jump in a month - nearly the increase it took 9 years to build without the HT protocol. WBC also improved! Elated with the results and wishing I had done it earlier.

Hey Snook - long time. Glad you are well.

Elaine - Nice to see your name here too. I was passing through your way the wekend after Chistmas.

You take good care. When we were first dating my ex said, "Oh Goofy baby, give me 10 inches and make it hurt." So I did her three times and hit her on the head with a hammer.

Ba-da-bung....

I haven't been around in a few years, but remember you being FAR from normal....LOL

Good news on the platelets. I'm a few years SVR now myself, and my stage 3 fibrosis almost entirely reversed, and all my CBC's are within normal ranges.

If I remember correctly you were 115 pre-tx?  The 137 is really awesome GD and WBC too!!   Dr D didn't get back to give his informed opinion of how long it may take for the platelets to recoup, so you're a bit of a benchmark here.   Thanks for the update. (and bless GD junior for making my day lol!!!)

Hey nice to 'see' everybody, and thanks for the well wishes. Funny how a few months ago, at the lowest platelet point in few years, I wrote that off as just numbers bouncing around. Now, finding myself on the upside, I take it as concrete proof that good things are happening. We're an optimistic species.

Y'all think you're dissing me with the 'inches' comments, but little do you know, as long as you're making it plural, your paying me a compliment!

Last year (winter time, as much as we get here) I got out of the public pool with my lad and hit the sowers (in the unheated locker room). He says, Gee Dad, your weiner's awfull small". So I explain, loud enough to make sure those that heard him, hear me too, "that's cause I just got out of a cold pool, and it's chilly in here too". So he points out that everyone else just got out of the pool too, and they're not having that issue. A quick grab for the towel ensued.

Friggen kids...

whoa.. had no idea you were  severely inch-impaired; I've seen a lot of  inch-extension spam, but  had no idea it actually worked.

hope your inches normalize pretty soon

(and oh yeah, lots of congrats on those platelets numbers - looking good)

Goofy, I check in now and then and noticed your update.  Good to hear your story.

I also have been taking a long time to get them to come up again.  Now I'm 20 months post Peg INF/Riba 6 mo. Geno 2b and UND, but PLT dropped to 14K three months post.  (I am stage 2-3 but not tested in 2 years).  Had Ivig transfusions, etc. and now am staying above 100 - last test 2 weeks ago was 112!  My hepatologist turned me over to a great hemotologist and he agreed that the INF really can continue to keep PLT low for many on TX.

So I hope you continue to stay "high" and take that Folic Acid!

Best, Judy

That's good news Goofy. I had a very low platelet count prior to my transplant. After the surgery I was in the very low normal and just below normal. Now I am around 156,000 - 166,000 and I am happy to be there. Normal is not always a bad thing.
Be well,
Mike

Great news, Goofy.  All of us wonder how much the liver can get back to "normal" after SVR and how long it takes, so any news like yours is welcome.

As to reaching overall "normalcy," well that might be asking a little too much of some of us  :-)

This is super news - a four year high for your platelets and just shy of normal.

You're probably  there already. Looks like them platelets are about to be normal!

Congratulations. So much patience and it paid off.

That is great news...do you have plans for a biopsy, fibroscan or ultrasound? I am very interested to know how much healing the liver can accomplish.

Looks that way and 2.5 years of a SVR is wonderful.
I hope we can all boast that in time!
Feel good...

I don't think that you have to worry about normalcy.  But it's good news about the platelets.  The longer I'm away from tx the more I really wonder what the old liver looks like these days.  Hope you and the junior (son that is) are well.

That is good news.  I hope to follow in your footsteps.  I was stage 3 - 4 transitional.

So, I am happy for you and hopeful that I will see some recovery as well.
