geno 2b RVR (but treated with Pegasys)
4 weeks post UND
8 weeks post Relapse

My hepatologist wants me to Pre-load with Riba for 4 weeks, which I have already started. (Don't put your hand too close to the cage.)
Just kidding so far, so good.

First of all, Thank You for responding and I want you to understand  “I am not being nosey.” The reason I posted the thread is because, I have a meeting set up with my Gastro 4/2 (approx. week 16) and I want some answers. I am 2b, treating with Peg-Intron (what ever the max. is) and 1200mg of Riba a day. I am about 5’9 and about 225lbs. I was undetected at 4,8, &12 weeks. Like many others, I have had a rough time on tx. He told me, if I can make it to week 16, my chances for SVR are 80%. My main question for him is, if I am undetected at week 12, why not reduce the amount of tx through weeks 16-20. If all is going well at week 20, start weaning off tx weeks 20-24. It just does not make since to me that if I am undetected weeks 4-12, that the same amount of meds. Would be necessary for my remaining 8 weeks.

You are going through a tough time on tx but I would try and make it the 24 weeks, SVR rates are much high with clearing at 4 weeks as you have. Just my opinion, if you can do it.

I was a geno 2. At least I hope I was! (meaning I hope I am still clear and not geno 2)
I was und at week 3, had pcr done at weeks 3, 4, 12, and 15. I had a great PCP who ordered additional pcr's for me. I quit the shots at week 15 or 16, (can't remember exactly) but I continued  the riba for another week. I was und at 3 and 6 months post. My sides were actually worse by the time I quit, because of the itching.
Started procrit at week 3, with a 10.1 Hgb, but the hgb rose back to normal and I stopped the procrit around week 8.
I was sure at the time that I was making the right decision to quit, but of course I was scared to test at 3 and 6 months post. Luckily, I was still und....
I have no idea why some of us clear and others don't. I did the peg-intron and a study showed that 12 weeks with early response was close to the same svr rate as 24. I took a risk, and I would never urge someone else to do the same and not succeed. It's such a personal decision, only you can make that call....
Good luck!
