48 week PCR

My GI had me do a Qualitative by TMA. I asked if a quantitive was not the correct test and he feels that this one gives the best indication of eradication. So i will not get a number but just a positve or negative.......the wait begins..

so on that note...gonna spin an oldie but goodie for all you hepcats out there waiting for your next results..live on hepfree radio...

I think I would have asked for BOTH. They have a type of test that goes like if you are found positive on qualitative it automatically also does the quantative. I hope you got that one.
But since you will clear anyways...it doesn't matter..........
Good Luck buddy..........

inreasing counts are hit and miss, but you can try a few things..are you taking any vitamins? C and E along with folic acid is good...tho i'm hearing C causes iron absorbtion...but i think if you take at a different time then meals it shouldn't be bad...ya gotta have it///also watch your ibuprofen intake this type of med can wreck havoc on platlettes.

eat your fruit and veggies...

best to ya

Thanks for your message.  Actually, I may not have to stop the meds.  I'm still taking the riba this week and getting blood work on Friday.  Depending on the results the GI will let me know whether or not I can to the injection Friday night.  The nurse is just passing on the info. from him.  Do you know of anything I can do to increase the blood counts? The nurse says there's really nothing I can do.  Just check them again on Friday. caruu

Great to have you at the finish line! Been a long year!, now sit back and enjoy feeling better. I did 52 weeks peg and pills, The last week my wbc was very low, 2 weeks later they were back up in the "range". I started to feel good very fast. I think I am 90% back to normal. The only problem I am haveing is my hips hurt after i sit for awhile, i have to really try to get up, but once up and i walk around i'm OK. Hope this helps ya.

caruu- sorry your gonna stop your meds for a bit...did you say the nurse told you to do this...if so make sure you get it from the gi...your numbers will bounce quite a bit just by themselves...maybe a reduction but not complete stopping.

ak- its great not putting in the poison...now if i can just get it out of me...still feeling pretty crappy...wbc sitting at 2.7...any post tx-ers know how long before i can expect my numbers to get back to pre tx levels.

willing- congrats on nearing the finish line...but don't worry that truck will still be around to back over you now and then for a bit....more rain coming

So how's it feel to not be poisoning yourself finally??? Nice song, by the way. My doc had me take a heptimax this time, doesn't seem to be all knowed up on the various tests, maybe he wanted to get an accurate count cause of my wacky enzymes?

I'm wishing the best for you!  How long will it take to get the results?  I expect to hear something by Monday on my PCR.

I got a call this evening from the GI nurse saying my WBC, RBC and Platelet counts from this morning are really low and that I should not do the pegasys until I get tested again (on Friday) to ensure they are back to a safe level.  Bummer!  I don't want to have to cut back on the meds!  I'm hoping it's because of the closeness of the tx/blood test.  I did the tx on Saturday and the blood test on Tue.  Normally it's been Friday tx and Wed. blood test.  Let's just keep thing positive thoughts! caruu

Great song!  I just came home from giving blood for the 12 wk. PCR test (quant.).  As you say, the wait begins.  I'm going to keep busy, but don't think I can create anything as cool as your song.  Thanks, caruu

Once upon a time... qualitative tests were much more sensitive than quantitative tests. Thus SOP was to do a qualitative at the end of treatment (assuming you had cleared earlier) trying one's best to determine if any bugs were around.

Today, you can get "super" sensitive quant PCR so it really doesn't matter quant/qual so long as you are using such a test - my lab always buggered this up and gave me the worst sensitivity test they could find :) until forced to give me what the doctor ordered (what I requested).
