I'm with Nygirl - its the likely interferon causing the rage, or maybe just some bad pizza...I too have come to rely on the experts on this post. My doctor did not know jack when I started out last July...I think I became the poster boy for his office as I am now post treatment one month and waiting for hopefully SVR in June. Anyhows, always crosscheck the data you get here with some other source to increase the confidence in the info and you too will be quite an expert and invested in your own cure.

You didn't start anything, don't worry.
You aren't the only one who gets paranoid especially when there is contradictory information.

Well, I did not mean to start a fight . Thanks to everyone.  I have been doing some reading on the sites people gave me. I really should have never question what my DR told me. I go to the liver clinic at Walter Reed Army medical center in Bethesda MD .  So they should be up on things. I was given the good news{24wks} and then I came home and read something about 48 wks if you are 1a ......got all paranoid!

Been a member since 2005 and been SVR since 2006.  It feels great I just haven't updated my status in a very long time since pretty much everyone on here knows everyone and it doesn't occur to me any longer. I should do that.

Ribarage is caused by interferon and at times can be a good 'go to' excuse for just plain old bad, mean behavior.  It's quite overused in fact to be blunt - not to say in any way it's not real but...it's not the reason for everything.  Lately it seems as if it's being used that way.

My doctor tells me it is one of the side effects from the drugs.Being irritable.Check it out or do you think it is something else.By the way,you say in your profile you have been SVR for 3 years.Hows it feel?I am looking forward to that feeling to.

Is it just me, or had this place gotten a little more hostile?
Riba rage maybe?
People here give advice, not medical fact and it should be taken as such.
Always consult your doctor or medical professional... "

Dear Lord God if you can't take the advice of some of the old timer members here who have spent YEARS researching and studying (Will, Cando, Mike, Hector for example) and you can listen to a new person give incorrect advice and wonder WHY people sound hostile when people who are guessing just fill in the blanks as best as they can and risk ruining a persons chance at SVR - then honestly I just dont know what to say.

Personally, my doctor knew WAY less than several of the old timers that were here when I started in 2005. Without their help I would NOT be SVR today. They helped guide me on the latest and most up to date information that my doctor (like many if not most) dont bother to look into because they think they "know" what is what (and most learned out of books years ago).  I finally backed it all up by going to Dr. Ira Jacobson the preeminant NYC world renown heptologist and HE called my doctor and told him he should start reading journals and get up to date on treatment that I was more advised than he was and that should not be. And I'm from NY not some small town with just a PCP to care for me.

Appreciate this forum 'advice' , oh my God but please do NOT take away from the years and years that some of the heavy hitters have done - doctors no, but when it comes to saving your life........................this is the most indespensible tool you can find.

And that the reason why some of us still read and answer and monitor what is going on.

PS It all has NOTHING TO DO WITH RIBAVIRIN anyways..............nothing at all.  Riba does not give you rage.

I got a little tension on my last thread. It is the drugs talking. One of the side effects on Ribavirin. These people aren't generally this way but they are stressed, anxious, impatient, mad as hell sometimes, etc, and the drugs intensifies these emotions. So just laugh it off as I do.I use to be a minister in Columbia,S.C. back in the 60's and I forgive a lot.

Just got back from my doctor. My blood work was great. He tells me because I am a relapser from the 48 week 2drug treatment,I can stop the Incivek after 12 weeks and stop the Ribavirin and Pegasis after 24 weeks.I am a genotype 1a.My viral count at the beginning of the first treatment was between 2-3 million. The beginning of the new 3 drug treatment was 750,000.This is encouraging news for me.Then I asked him to compare the two tx results to see if the Incivek made a difference. It did.I will not celebrate until the follow up results after this new tx.Another thing is these video on You Tube by Dr.Melissa Palmer -teleprevir&boceprevir but you make your awn judgement when she talks about building a resistance to the drug if you miss a dosage.I found out that she is no longer practicing and is doing consultant work for Sirius Radio. She scares a lot of people.I hope this helps. This is what I have been saying all along.

Crigger , it's always better to do your own research , this is a public forum & there are No Doctors in this section of MH ...

There are several very good learning sites available free .
Clinical Care Options may be the most informative - you do have to register , it's free

http://www.clinicaloptions.com/Hepatitis.aspx

PubMed is another - many study results ...

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed

AASLD  - for current treatment guidelines
http://www.aasld.org/practiceguidelines/Pages/SortablePracticeGuidelinesDate.aspx

Hope these help .. since watching TV and reading guidelines both entail sitting on our posterior .. may I suggest research is a more beneficial use of time ...
My 1 cent worth ; )

Cheers

I'm not doing the triple treatment but what I know from others here is it is response driven.

You can look at this site, posted above:
http://www.natap.org/2011/PDF/NurseMary.pdf

Personally, if was geno 1, stage 1, grade 1,tx naive,  I'd look into one of the new oral trials or even consider waiting for them to be approved, but that's just me.

OK, my two cents. My Doc told me today that IF I am UND at week 8 and my liver condition has not advanced beyond the stage 1, grade 1 from the biposy 2 years ago then I am looking at 28 weeks. The week 8 test is the critical indicator for treatment length. If detected at 8 and also at 24 then I will be told to stop because I would be considered a non-responder.

I am just repeating what I read on these threads. If i'm wrong then the threads and other info is wrong. In the 2 drug program someone starting out like myself has to do 11 months. In the new treatment if you are new the dr will recommend the full 48 weeks, like my dr told me.But I am a relapser and I hope after reading these threads that I can look forward to 12-24 weekson incivek. Please advise me differently if this is different.MIKE

Jasmine, I thought Genotype 1a and 1b was considered about equal to each other in terms of success rates?  Is that not the case?
