6 month viral load/ different lab different results

My boyfriend had his 6 month viral load test a few weeks ago.  His first test was taken in May by LabCorp using the HCV QuantaSure Plus.  That result was <10 IU/ml indicates either complete absence of HCV RNA or in rare cases, low copy # below detectable limit of the assay.

The 6 month repeat viral load was with Bio-Reference lab, this test was Hep C RNA, bDNA, QNT <3200 copies/ml
& Hep C RNA, bDNA, QNT <615 IU/ML
this was preformed using Bayer bDNA Assay

result HCV,RNA not detected...

Question...since the first test was < 10 IU, and the second was < 615 IU...does this mean his viral load is getting higher?  Or is just because it is 2 different labs with 2 different tests?

the numbers you are referring to are the range numbers, not his results. His results were below the range of detection both times. It is a shame they did not use the same range as the first one, but since he did get a very sensitive one before that last one, he is most likely still clear of the virus.
