8 week blood tests

8 week blood tests

I am being treated with pegasys and ribavirin.
Below are my 8 wk lab tests:
WBC    3.7     low         (range 4.0-10.5)
RBC    3.00     low          (range 3.80-5.15)
Hemoglobin  10.0 low      (range 11.5-15.0)
Hematocrit   29.9  low     (range 34.0-44.0)
MCV        100  High        (range 80-98)
RDW     15.7    High        (range 11.7-15.0)
Platelets     362               (range 140-415)
Neutrophils  52                (range 40-74)
TSH     2.035                (range .350-5.50)
HCV Quantasure Plus VL  = 270 IU/ml  = 2.431 log   (pre tx  VL  = 2.84 mil IU = 6.453 log)

Based  on these results, is there anything I should ask my doctor about.
My doctor does not run an ANC test, but told me I could get that number by multiplying WBC by Neutrophils.  If so, then ANC = 3.7 x 52 = 1924.  Does anyone know if that is the correct way to calculate ANC and if it is, does my ANC look ok?

Here are a couple of links on Calculating ANC

The formula "multiplying WBC by Neutrophils" is how you calculate it.

I would ask about your Hemoglobin being low and when your Doc plans on reducing your riba and by what amount. You also should ask whether you can get Procrit.

Learnt something today.

Your counts are still looking pretty safe.  Actually they look better than mine and I'm still considered "safe"

My Hgb is 10, total reds 3.3, ANC is 784 with total whites at 2.4.

So, looks like right now you are holding your own but this may also be the time to discuss with your doc how low your hgb has to go before he will introdue rescue drugs.    I will be having the same discussion with my doc when I see him on the 10th and will also be asking  about how low my ANC has to go before rescue is provided for that.

Good luck to you.
