A change of pace

We all seem to post questions or relate stories of hardships we are having (me included) that I thought I would just post a little note about a good day.  I actually woke up and felt pretty good this morning.  I even got my kid to school a little early and didn't yell at him one single time.  I was nice to my husband and didn't yell at him either.  I got to work and felt downright normal for once.  I even made two or three appropriate decisions without having to spend 10 minutes thinking about what it was that I was doing.  So, in the mist of all the days that can be bad, there is light at the end of the tunnel, that there are actually good days mixed in there!  Hope the rest of my day goes as good as the morning has started, and hope everyone else has as good as day as I am having so far!  Take care all.  Every one of you are in my good thoughts today.

oh he sounds wonderful and calm for a stallion what a sweetie he must be.....did you sell him, or is he just being leased out....you mentioned he is available for breeding at another barn, are you still in ownership.....bet it would be difficult to not see him daily...one of my horses i had to sell years ago, i made an agreement that i had visiting rights..but after a short time, found it too difficult and focused on my new horse.  but you  are expecting 3 of his foals yes? and sounds like they will also be magnifigant with good potential ahead...or are they up for sale eventually?  TB have not ever been my fav for me to work with , unless they are 10 yrs or older as they tend to be a bit too hot and less predictable for me....but generally, tend to be amoung some of the best jumpers  ...until NOW....the Canadian horse is still considered an endangered specics as there are less then 5000 of them registered, but there are easily 10 txs that many that just never were registared as they were used for years as work horses and are just recently becoming recognised as a wonderful, versitle sport horse...anyway, great exchanging horse info with all you guys instead of 'sides' for a bit.....thanks kimmy

I have an AQHA halter stallion and he has been the top producing halter sire in the State Futurities of Kentucky and Tennessee for the past 3 years (that means that his babies have won at the shows) He only produced 3 foals each of those years due to not being bred to outside mares.  I bought him last year, and bred him to several mares. He was my dream come true, the kindest and easiest stallion to manage ever, and I have worked with well over 100 different stallions in the Quarterhorse, Paint, and TB world.  I miss seeing him in the barn everyday.   Shadey

nah unnh wasn't me.....it was 'bowels' and then blueskies morning breathe thingy and the 'fart'est part.....i just made a simple, humble, silly, wee, little, spelling...misfartke.....i didn't EVEN LAUGH really...til wise ol blueskies pointed it all out and started the tidal waves of laughter and tears, and thus sent me into extreme de-hydration, from tears rolling down my face.......

Oh yeah..I'm a True Blue Texan!  Small town just south of Houston here.  Didn't realize you were here in Texas.  Yesterday was a crazy day on this board and I do pretty good until Ring....out  of the blue posts a crazy posting and then I'm cracking up all day.  I'm still worried about Higgin and thinking he won't return and he is so new on board that I guess he doesn't realize our warped sense of humor at times. Its cool that you made it through this and coming back through the door and saying its "All Good"  That keeps me going!

yup....quebec, canada.....funny thing about the solitude, there is an adjustment period, when i moved here from the city i had great difficulty sleeping because of the intense quite and darkness.....but NOW, when i go to the city, i could NEVER sleep there, because of those very things lacking.....i love and crave the silence and the night sky as it was meant to be...well....it really isn't 'silent' with all the animals , birds etc...but the lack of horns and sirens is a true blessing, no more sudden SHOCKS to the ol nervous system....

now....as for owning a horse, you certainly don't need to live in the country for that.....check your yellow pages and see if there are any good stables/riding facilities in your area....you could always half board/lease a horse...or ride by the hour....and when and if it becomes something you think you'd stick with, you could then consider buying your own...and having him/her boarded at a good stable.....and STILL live in the city....so your not an unrealistic goal if you want it kiddo....but very doable....
cheers

That is really cool that all of you have horses.  I love horses and have always wished I had some land so I could get some. What part of the country are you all from?  Ring...aren't you on the countryside in Canada somewhere? Not sure I could handle to much solitude though as I do like the idea of having my neighbors close by if needed.  Well seems like a slow day here in hepperville so I'm on my way.  Its rainy and cold here so thinking about taking a siesta.  haha Wheres Peebee today?  He popped in and out yesterday!!  oh well take care

hahaha okay.sorry for poking fun..just looked up...'haflinger' NEVER heard of that breed before, but read discription and it sounds lovely, espeacially with a bit of thoroughbred in there, bet he's a bit taller than the standard for that breed.....almost has that delicate refined chiseled look of an arbian head from the pics i just saw....hope you can get back up soon and ride abit....i found that if i have a bit of help with grooming and tacking....i find the strenght to ride.....it really is very healing and energy producing somehow when i am able to WILL myself to get my butt to the stable.....hope you manage to do so also....

oh wow....okay....you TRUMP us all.....man, i couldn't imagine THAT WORK LOAD darlin......i board my guy right up the road, so....the 'most' work i need to do is walking out to the paddock, (as they are turned out fr. 7am to 4pm ) get him, groom him, tack him and ride/work him.....and i CAN'T EVEN MANAGE THAT without a HUGE struggle.....oh the joys of 'breeding'...no thanks....helped with that a few times and decided i'd definately stand back and let others....scarey!  i had my quarter horse mare put down about 4 yrs ago as she was nevicular and i had done all the 'nerve blocking' possible.....sad it seems to effect quarter horses mostly!  now i have a huge 16.2 hds Canadian Sport Horse, gelding....he is soooo willing its unbelievable..i bought him when he was 2 and a half..and there was almost nothing i couldn't do with him...really GOOD head/mind he has, bomb proof....do a lot of hunter paces with him, cross country, jumping etc....although i must say he really is getting a huge hay belly now that i'm not working him as much....oh....i could go on and on....what other than breeding are you doing with them...much riding etc.?....sorry for going on... you probably won't even see this now it's so far down....
cheers

It's good to see so many horse people in here.  I had 28 horses in August, but have cut down since I will not be able to care for them and my family will have to do most of it for me.  I now have 15 since we got a new colt born Jan 29th. We have 3 more foals to come in March and April. I was looking at 14 mares to foal from Jan to April and a big breeding season with the stallion but sold a bunch of bred mares and the stallion moved to a new farm to stand this year.  I have Quarterhorses and Paints.  Shadey

I also had a pretty good day. I'm still experiencing some hyperthyroid symptoms, but the med is starting to work.  If your legs and arms get REALLY, REALLY weak (like too weak to walk from room to room, go to the store for 1-2 things) and your heart beats really hard and you are out of breath and you have chest tightness, and your head feels hot all of the time then HAVE YOUR THYROID checked.  I thought I was having sx from the Pegasis/Riba and it turns out my thyroid was over producing.  The GI picked it up during a scheduled blood test.  I ended up having to take 9 days off work, but went back yesterday to my 1/2 time schedule.  Eight more weeks of this s@#t! (and who know what the hypER will bring, I meet with the endo tomorrow).  Thank god for good days! caruu

okay i'm hiding now too....we better be careful though, cause if this is  really scarey for someone to experience that...this lovingly poking fun, COULD induce some anger and hurt....and after what mike said about his experience......it struck me that this dear man higgins could be in some serious trouble too.....with stomach bleeding etc....YIKES, please God don't let that be the case......

I got a Welsh pony and one minurature left. I did have to rest after all that but still got the job done. Yess the days are slowing as we get closer. The morning views are the best. I don't know how I could have handled doing TX in suburbia.

oh wow....i have trouble even walking out to the paddock to GET my horse....THEN...i have to sit there for 10 min. to catch my breathe.....THEN....(this was on sunday )...i was so exhausted that i just clipped his lead rope to one side of his halter and tied the other end to the other side and mounted him way out at the VERY FARTEST POINT (thank god for the big rock, for a mounting block, he's 16.2 )in the paddock and rode him back cause there was no way i could have walked....he was sooooo good....even though the other geldings all started to gallop and get excited about all this 'newness' he countinued at a walk for me......right through all of them...i did have a wee moment when i was sure things would get ugly though....but he got me safly back to the gate....and then....i needed a 'nap' almost, before i could groom or tack him.....i manage to ride for a few hours....i'm okay....AS LONG AS I'M SITTING....so i DON'T know how you manage all you DO....makes me feel a bit of a wimp....
p.s. what kind of horse do you have

I like this. I also have had some good days. There have been times when my brain works and I make good decisions. I have done physical labor. This last weekend I had to go to the feed store and I got 8 bails of hay. Loaded and unloaded by myself. Besides myself I think the horses were happy with the results. I did #22/24 Friday night. Almost done. The next question is 2b or not 2b.
