A new day and I hope a new beginning

The post right below this one has reached it's max.  I do not like it when some make fun of others illness.  This really has to stop.

Spacecoast4--No one decides who can use the internet, however this is a site for people who need support and words of wisdom,  You calling me psychotic because I don't like any of us being made a fool of or fun of makes me wonder about you.  This is a support forum and frankly I do not know why you are defending Kalio2 being booted off.  To me it makes no sense because of all the hurtful things he said.
There are many sites he can go to and play.
I really don't understand you.

Hello all my friends ,

I'm doing fine with Sx, I hope it keeps up.

Beamishboy---Sx are fine so far and I hope it stays that way.  I always liked you and you really have a lot of friends here.  And yes right now you don't make alot of sense, but that the meds doing.  So don't worry we understand.  By the way my sx's are like yours.

Flguy--- I believe your right , I was thinking the same thing.  That spacecoast4 is Kalio2.  I guess they have no life, they really need to get one.

To all stay well and remember you always have friends here.

I apologized to someone the other day for not remembering all their "stats" and they said "like I can remember yours either!"
.  Most of us in here just can't do what some of the others can. I swear I feel like I need to get a scorecard going with notes on it sometimes the others remember so WELL!

You are SO WELL liked in here...ain't nobody going to ever bust on you for not remembering a few numbers!  :)

BB

I love it. I love saying I told you so.  I'm practicing. 22 weeks from now...it's going to be one big I TOLD YOU SO FEST around here.  :)  You are an example for everyone treating. You've approached this with so much enthusiasm and confidence and even HUMOR yes since day one...everyone just HAD to know you were going to make out just fine.  Those bugs run at the sight of you now!

If you weren't my twin you would be my role model...but that would sort of be like idolizing myself wouldn't it?  That just sounds creepy hahahahahah ;-)

In a thread below someone asked about when to prescribe Procrit or Neup.  I didn't ask ahead of time because I didn't know what to ask.  Here is my advice now.

Pinpoint the dr on when he will intervene with Proc or Neup.  Get the numbers, blood number drop timeframe.  AND find out if it is something he will prescribe or must send you to a cancer center.  It took a quick trip to the ER for a shot of Neulasta, a drop in my Riba for three weeks and a one time drop in Pegasys for my doc to react.  I suffered with rapid hgb drops for several weeks, asking for Procrit all the while.  When he finally admitted that the problem was not going to go away, he sent me for the shot and made an appt with cancer center since he doesn't prescribe it.  Problem was the appt was another month out.  So, find out how quick intervention will be and by whom.

I would also find out what your insurance will cover now.  Know your options now.

The waiting for the 12 wk pcr after the reduction in dosage was pure agony.  If it hadn't turned out NonDetect for me I would always have blamed the doc for not being quicker to intervene.  Did I say i was non detect at 12 weeks?  Yeah, baby!

Jokes and Riba rage on here---Personally, I couldn't get through the day as well without some of the comments here.  Still think of Goofy in the elevator on his knees, laughing so hard, the smell and hoping noone is outside the door when it opens.  Thank you.

Some of the tales of the rage make mine seem insignificant.  Oh, except for the Revereware pan I broke.  Now that took some effort, lol.  Cleared out the house for a spell tho.  Course we all know that was the goal, peace and quiet for a spell.  Hahaha

I came here when there was a serious case of rage going on.  But, I was hungry enough for information and others experiences that I was able to just say "Next!" and go on to the next message.  Hopefully noone was scared away as of late because of similiar problems.  I find this forum invaluable for my mental health right now and I thank each and every one of you.  Can't always post a congrats when appropriate or give my sympathies when needed but always think it.  My sx really kick me around a lot.  I have a long way to go yet and already wonder if I can make it.  Have found if I occasionally only wonder that thought and not speak it, I can go on.  The eviction notice to the bug is posted!

51yrFemale, 4mil beg VL, 1B for 37 years, BX 3/2, Friday will be 18 of 48.  First time treating.

Sending kind thoughtwaves to everyone, may your day be the best you can make it.

Excellent advice on the procrit from missmiss.  Find out in ADVANCE what the course of action will be and be prepared.  If the anemia DOES happen you will not have the energy to think about it all and perhaps even have to beg your doctor for it then.

It is CRUCIAL to have it all spelled out in ADVANCE it will save you so many problems later.

I thank God that I was able to go on Epogen as soon as we found the drop.

I think they usually prescribe under TEN on the hgb but am not sure.  I went 15 - 9 in a little over a week and got it then.

Miracle stuff.

Hey I wonder how mauka is doing?

Are you over the shot day hump?  Feeling FINE?  FINE? FINE?

I hope so my friend I sure do!

Don't worry about spaciecase...the name is perfect for them and we have to understand what it's like to have really SERIOUS mental problems in addition to the physical.  This is a good test case for us to learn patience.

That or I'm getting the gun out again!  ;-)

Amazing how knowing what is wrong with one helps one to feel better!  :)

My last posting to ya'll I was complaining about the utter exhaustion and not knowing how I was going to get thru....

My week 8 labs showed my TSH level to be 7.85 (normal is 5) but I had problems with thyroid meds and wasn't ready to take them.

My week 12 labs (last Fri) showed my TSH level to be 36.1!!  No wonder I feel so durn crappy!!!  I start on thyroid meds tonight and hopefully in a few days I will start to feel much better.  Just having a little more energy each day will go a long way towards getting thru TX.

My doctor asked me if I wanted some low level ritalin for more energy.  I looked at him like he was crazy and said no....but has anyone else taken ritalin for energy while on TX?  Any ideas of pros and cons?

Thanks, Valorie

What were your hgb levels for your 12-week?  As many report here, anemia is often the cause of profound lack of energy.

I had a problem a couple weeks ago and dropped from 13.5 to 10.  The HGB was 11.  It's raising back up on it's own.  Thank goodness!  No procrit or epogen yet.

I did a search for symptoms of hypothyroidism and they fit everything I'm experiencing.  Apparently thyroid problems are another side effect of TX.  Let's see what did she call it....medicine induced hypothyroidism and said it should clear up after TX is over.

It looks like anemia and hypothyroidism have some overlapping symptoms.

Hope the thyroid meds help resolve the tiredness.  Several folks here report tiredness/weakness with a precipitious drop in hgb (3.5 drop is large).  Hope you and docs work out a good blood lab schedule so you can stay on top of whatever comes up/goes down.  Was a pcr part of the work?

I was wondering that as well - the lack of energy and ovewhelming fatigue was surely an indicator of the anemia for me.  Although it hit at week 3 or so it can come on any time I'd imagine!

You had your 12 week labs? I must have missed your PCR results ... sorry about that how did you do?  :)

Nope you didn't miss anything yet.  The PCR report isn't back yet.  The labs were drawn last Friday so it's just the simple stuff that's back.  The nurse called because of the TSH being so out of whack.

I have an apt with the dr next Monday and that's when I'll find out the results of the PCR.  I'm actually being very patient.  As soon as I find out the results I'll post them.

Thank you for asking.  Valorie

Ah it's so hard waiting for them but I'm sure you will do just fine!  I kept calling and calling...I think I was on the phone UNTIL the minute they came in.

I have no patience. Maybe this is the life lesson of hep. ;-)

BEST of luck!

I hope your eyes improve, It should start to get better soon.  I'm doing well, hardly any sx's.  Maybe it's because I'm geno  2B, who know's.  Don'y worry about spacecoast4/ he or she is Kalio2. Think about it, he has not asked 1 question about Hep C.  All he cares about is getting  us up set, we all need to ignore him/her.  I hope you feel better soon.  How many shots have you had?

Stay well, think only of the good and the day of SVR.

missmiss - That's is some great advice and grest of you to post what you went through. I wish I'd come across thios place months before-instead of the day -I started. Do I see the most subtle little mention of undetectable there?
Congratulations!!! Good thoughts your way! You went through a lot to get there.

Mrs.O - Hope the thyroid stuff helps you. Glad to see the update. I remember somebody I met who did treatment said they had thyroid related problems on tx but it worked out well when dx. Wish you the best, way to hang in.

Stay Well, Journey Well,

Have any of you guys heard of this suppliment?I'm going to ask my doc about this on the next visit. From what I have researched this is a precursor to glutithione a anti-oxidant aminoacid produced in the body.Research has shown this suppliment helps rejuvinate depleted levels of glutithione which can be caused bt alcohol consumption, drug therapies, toxins.also its proven to srop free radical production and viral replication. It is also given as an anti-dote in hospitals for tylenole poisining, proven as a liver cleanser. Not saying this is some kind of cure or anything, maybe when one isn't on tx maybe it coult help us rid our livers of toxins ingested in everyday life!Dyce

You asked "has anyone else taken ritalin for energy while on TX"

Before TX, and before I was diagnosed with HepC, I would get overwelming fatigue. I tried ritalin and it seemed to help. After I started tx, I again tried ritalin for fatigue. Basically it made me feel horrible. On the other hand, I do not suffer depression from tx. I do suffer from anxiety (a tx side effect) and my doctor explains is kinda the same thing as depression, only different (if that makes sense, explain it to me). Anyway, I think the ritalin may have intensified my anxiety, which I didn't suffer from before tx (the doc didn't tell me this, I'm just guessing).

Hi, yeah, I've been taking NAC for a long time now. I like it, it goes with the rest of my regime. If you look it up you'll see it's quite harmless. Are you treating, have treated, about to treat, waiting? he he he, sorry to give you so much homework...

Hi, i agree with much of what you say. K2 made some remarks that I didn't like. I tried to pick on him, and was hoping to see him go. On the other hand you are correct, this is a support forum. What if K2 came here because he was depressed and angry. Sound familiar? What if he was needing something from us but was just unable to bring himself to express it. Maybe he doesn't know how.
In the past I worked with problem kids and was a "special friend" to several kids. They made these kind of comments that K2 made. Maybe I'm way off base. Next time maybe we should consider more tolerance. If I'm, I'm wrong. No harm in a little tolerance. When I worked with the problem children, it generally seemed like a waste of time. But when I seen that one kid, just the one out of all I worked with, and he runs into me 5 yrs later with a big smile on his face, and there are no smart ass remarks like he used to make. K2's remarks reminded me of that kid. Anyway, sorry for the sermon, just a thought.
