AIH - hereditary?

by Wendy, Mar 07, 2000 12:00AM
Following some hospital tests for recurrent stomach pain a liver function test showed an elevated ALT (only slightly elevated 55 (ref 2-31). The tests were negative and a diagnosis of IBS was reached.

My mother has been diagnosed with AIH 3 years ago and is on a very high dose of prednisolone and azathriopine with the possibility of going on the transplant list.

The doctor does not seem too concerned and said the chances are I just have a mild virus that has caused the increase.

Do you think I should change to a GI specialist and follow-up or should I just take my GP's advice and leave it be?

This site is excellent - thank you so much for your guidance.

To: anyone
I have developed lucosite cytoclastic vasculitis as a result of my hep c and have just recently been put on azathioprine to deal with the swollen blood vessels. Has anyone else developed this and do you know of any natural remedies that I might be able to ask about. I' getting pretty tired of conventional meds as they always seem to have so may adverse reactions. Would be nice to find that's a litlle easier on me.
Any comments would be appreciate
Thanx
