AIH

by rputty, Dec 18, 1999 12:00AM
Within the past couple weeks, I had a liver biopsy done, which confirmed that I had AIH. All my liver levels were extremely high:
SGOT 1210;  SPOT 1077;  GGT  62;  ALK PHOSE  232;  TOTAL BILI 8.6;  DIRECT BILI 5.8

They put me on 60 mg. of Prednisone and 50mg of Azathioprine. I don't have any permanent damage to my liver and I seem to responding to the drug therapy.  My levels have dropped dramatically:
SGOT 304; SPOT 120; GGT 102; ALK PHOS 159; TOTAL BILI 2.2; DIRECT BILI 1.3

I continue to have a lot of abdominal pain located below my navel.  I seem to get it off and on, but daily.  I also have an acid reflux type of feeling in my throat whenever I eat or drink. Will these symptoms go away?? Are they normal? Also, I read that prednisone causes thinning of the bones... should that be a concern of mine, since I'm such a high dosage of prednisone?  Thanks for answering my questions.
