AIH

by Dixie Lee, Jan 18, 2001 12:00AM
Before I begin I would like to thank you for any and all help you can give me with the problem that I am having. I will try to make this as breif as possible.
I am a 48 yr old female, 4 months ago I suddenly became very ill with extreme right upper abdomem pain, fever and feeling very ill.  I went to the ER, ER gave me a liver function test, HepA,B,C. My SGOT 775, SGPT 680. All other levels negative or within range. I was referred to a GI doctor.
My symptoms: low grade fever,(fever lasted for about 3 wks), Extreme fatique, weakness in muscles, very ill feeling, hair loss, and some minor pain in upper right abdomen.
Test findings:Liver function after 3wks with NO MEDS returned to normal,  I also had a Liver biopsy that showed slight liver inflamation (inflammation). I have a positive ANA. I have low iron but not anemic.
CT, Ultrasound of abdomen, and ALL OTHER(I have had several)blood workups have come back negitive.
My problem is I am still having extreme fatigue, muscle weakness, general ill feeling, I am unable to work or to maintain my normal life style. Some slight discomfort, tightness in my right upper abdomen area.
My question is: Can someones liver function test go back to normal range with out any medications, and can they still have mild or stage one AIH.
I am very confused about all of this and have been to several doctors, 2 say AIH, 1 says maybe, 1 says no.  I would at this time like to know if my liver function can go back to normal and I still have AIH.  I am due next week to have another CT and next month to have a 2nd liver biopsy.
Again thank you for any and all help with this question.
Sincerely
Dixie Lee
