ALCOHOL AND LIVER

People who drink large quantities of alcohol over a long period of time are generally at greatest risk of developing ALD. But remember, the alcoholic content differs among different kinds of alcoholic beverages. Therefore, the likelihood of developing ALD is affected by the alcohol content of the beverage ingested, not by the type of alcoholic beverage consumed

Okay, no champagne at Easter brunch.  Just soda water in the punch, I guess.

Happy Easter, a blessed Passover and have a joyous weekend in this lovely spring weather to everyone at MedHelp.

Its ok to have some "spirits"...moderation and common sense is the key,but,like i always say,common sense is not that common,i have been going out to the bars as of lately and being a dancing fool.having fun,but sometimes i wonder if that kind of fun is worth it,as proberly most of us here all know, there is another form of relapse that is even  worse or maybe just as bad as TX relapse....its gettn heavy in the big city..time to head for the hills of my small home town...50 years of breathing in smog is a tad too much....i miss home

Oh brother!  Seek and you shall find. The qoutes which have been referenced are for drinking in general.

However, since this is a forum for people with liver disease (i.e. HCV) it would seem prudent to also reference the comment made in the afore mention article which says:

"Alcohol has been shown to worsen the course of many liver diseases. Since alcohol is a potential toxin to the liver, people with any type of liver disease should refrain from drinking alcohol."

Note, the "any type of liver disease" which I take to mean:

(HCV & (Stage != 0) ) == NO alcohol

Wow has that ever been stated here before?

Actually, I'd probably say:

noAlcohol = false;
if (HCV & (Stage != 0))
   noAlcohol = true;

return toYourNormallyScheduledLife;

As long as you are SVR a glass of wine here or there isn't going to do anything (now ask me to say that six years ago when I just joined in here - LOL no way!) but certainly if you have the virus which is already damaging your liver on it's own - don't do it.  Otherwise you can end up a stage 3 like me. Stupid ole me thought Mr. Smirnoff was a better friend than my liver.
