ALL LIQUID DIET

hey had tooth removed today or technically had twisted gross broken root remove today and my Dr told me liquid diet for three days and i am trying to follow that to the letter because this is the worse tooth issue I have ever had to deal with and don't want it to get worse in anyway, so my question to you is what are some ideas for liquid diets that i could drink before my pills so there is something in my stomach so I am not any sicker then I have to be. Keep in mind stuff with chances of meat or veggies is hard to deal with this hole is pretty big. Also keep in mind at least one meal OS breakfast and i would rather not be slaving at 5 am any ideas??? Thanks guys

I agree with you. Many doctors do not advise people on what they should take care of before treatment. We see it all of the time on the forum. Some not only do not tell people about the dental aspect but they also don't tell them about the baseline eye exam. Since yours was one whop neglected to tell you about the exams, then you are stuck making the best of a bad situation now. I am hoping that this works and that your teeth problems resolve soon. Hang in there.

Well my Dr didn't tell me anything about go to.dentist first or eye Dr or well anything. If I didn't have this forum I wouldn't have known to go to eye Dr. Also the last check up was supposedly fine for my teeth but turns out that dentist is a quack and I know that now but It's a little too late. Glad for the rest of you that knew what to do and got it done but since I didn't I'm having to deal with it and it ***** so forgive me if I'm cranky or complaining because i hurt but i missed the memo on make sure this this and this were done and what I did do before didn't help so, yes I'm asking support in what to do know since I can't go back in time get a new Dr or a better brain. Some peoples Dr aren't as detailed as some and sometimes you do what you think is best. Anyway sorry for my little freak out I am just tired of hearing if you would have dine this or this because some of us didnt know.to because of drs or whatever reason and are at a point were should've could've just irritate us. But for all he other comments that were helpful and supportive of me going through this now I appreciate it very much. And I'm not always such a b!tch

I agree with blenderizing foods. You could start with some plain yogurt or Greek God yogurt, protein powder, a banana or peach (or other blendable fruit), some whipping cream. Then turn on the blender. Soy milk is a good source of protein but not the fat if you need it. You can puree a lot of things that are cooked (and some that are not cooked). That would work too. Kefir is already liquid but thick. You could add something to it, like whipping cream and protein powder.

Hope you feel better soon.

Yeah, I find myself swallowing noodles whole all the time. I noticed, after my Interferon shot, that any other pain I had, would get much worse. I know the first couple of days are the worst, so just hang in there.
Hope you feel well enough to do a little shopping later. I tend to get dizzy and sick feeling, if I run out of food~

Deb, it was you guys on this forum that convinced me to go before tx and thank god I listened.  Like I said before I couldn't imagine being on tx and then having a tooth pulled.  Also my dentist said he wants to see me every three months during tx to make sure nothing is getting out of hand.  So I am very happy with my dentist.

Sorry to hear about your tooth....definitely horrible pain to have to deal with.

I second the motion on the Boost drinks.  Boost plus has 14 grams of fat in it, so you could conceivably drink two of those to help you take your meds.

Feel better.

Jules that is exactly what the doctors tell you to do, take care of your dental issues pretreatment or the interferon will eat away at the cavities and lead to trouble.  Good girl :)

Hi Ninja, sorry you are going through this.  I took care of my teeth before tx, still not tx, and thank god I did.  Couldn't imagine dealing with teeth and tx.  But just wanted to tell you will feel better once he takes the stitches out from where he pulled the tooth.  I think they pull those stitches so tight that causes the pain.  It was almost immediate relief when the stitches came out.  I did the blender thing for a few days and then was able to eat soft foods on the other side of my mouth.  Now three months later I still eat on the other side of my mouth because it just feels weird.  But no more pain by any means.  Can't wait to get the new tooth because when I talk I sound like an idiot!  HA  HA  Hang in there it will get better.

Jules

Yes I am on antibiotics they gave me pain meds but I'm a whimp and without some substance in my body they make me sick. I was hurting to bad to go to store and get stiff last night and apparently it was to much to ask my boyfriend to go get me stuff or he didn't get it or somethin. He brought me soup from a restaurant last night but what about this morning and this afternoon, we live together I'm not just being a jerk I don't think heck i take care of him all the time but anyway my rant was I found chicken poodle soup and that's what I just had for breakfast swallowing the noodles.without chewing and drinking the soup part because that's all there was and I'm hurting and tired gonna try your suggestions which I appreciate hopefully after a nap!
I don't know if It's the treatment I'm on or the fact that i also have fibromyalgia and am on treatment but this is the worst pain I've ever been through and that's saying a lot because I've been through some stuff honey. Anyway I'm trying real hard not to upset it anymore then it is, thanks for the suggestiona I love u guys and that's not just the pain or the pain meds talking! Gonna take some and go back to bed now!

Hi Ninja, I can't recall which treatment you are on, but if it's Incivek, and you need the fat, consider a big glass of whole milk with Strawberry Quick -- It's easy to make at 5 in the morning.

If you are blending something, probably want to avoid things with small seeds (like strawberries) because the seeds might get stuck in the hole.

Hope you are on a preemptive antibiotic. I had to take amoxicillian just to have a crown buildup. Cheers, GB

Hi Ninja.  I agree with the above.  Also this might help.  Scroll to the bottom of the article for recipes:

Also, cottage cheese w/pineapple is good and it's soft.  But....if it's not allowed right now, at least you can have some in a few more days.  Feel better soon!  I know about dreaded tangled roots :o(

Hey, props to you, for taking care of business right away, with that bad tooth!  Also, did they give you any antibiotics, to prevent infection?
I still cant chew on the side where ihad my tooth ache, and I am missing teeth on the other side, and lost the plate, with the two fake teeth, so I do a soft diet, quite a bit, since going on this Victrelis. I buy a bunch of different flavors yogurt, and a big bunch of bananas, and apple-sauce.  All the stuff I gave my babies before they had teeth..hey, come to think of it, some of the baby food they have out there, isn't that bad!
There is also soup, Andersons' Split Pea is okay...cream of mushroom, etc. And for breakfast, I like softly cooked, scrambled eggs, they go down easy~

Do you have a blender? I use to blend for a client I took care of in the private home health sector. You can blend as thick or as thin (liquid). Blend w/love ;-).
try chic broth. home made if you can.  If your looking for fat for your meds. you  might add a dollop of butter. you might add potatoes or rice. and vegies n such. and don"t for get the seasonings.
F.Y.I.  I was told after a wisdom extraction the same thing.  I went straight to the chow hall ;-)... Good luck Ginger

The good old "Ensure" or "Boost", liquid yogurt, icecream(zinnng?) -maybe too cold, maybe just rite.  Cold potatoe soup, jello, shakes, juicer time.  Wow, my brain is so lazy.  Wish I could really help - I got my fingers crossed for you.
