ASMA Blood Test Vs interfuron

Hi all

I made a blood test call ASMA and the resukt was positive. My doctor told me that my body won't be able to handle the treatment. I went to another doctor for second opinion, he told me that ASMA has nothing to do with HCV. I didn't other Blood tests (AMA, KLM, Certin freitin "Or something sounds like that, I am not sure of the name of the last one" ). the results of the first 2 are -VE and the last one is 174.9 which is in the normal range.
Don't know who is correct?

I think that this test has something to do with auto immune hepatitis. Let's wait until some of the clever people chime in.

ASMA.....Anti-Smooth Muscle Antibody.  This test is usually ordered along with (ANA)antinuclear antibody test to help diagnose autoimmune hepatitis.

When significant amounts of ASMA and ANA are present in the blood, the most likely cause is autoimmune hepatitis.

However, small amounts of ASMA may be found in other conditions such as mono and  primary biliary cirrhosis.


Other autoantibody tests, such as liver-kidney microsomal type 1 (LKM1) antibodies and antimitochondrial antibodies (AMA), also help diagnose autoimmune hepatitis.

The results are given in NUMBERS, so I have no idea what "VE" means.
