Abnormal pap on tx?

Could it have been tx that caused it? I had it done week 15 n was low grade squamous cells. I was DES exposed I'm utero and had congenital anomaly - 1/5 uterus, no left kidney or ovary, but NEVER got a bad pap. Menopause age 35 n they did complete hysterectomy when I was 40 so I could take estrogen.
Anyway.. They now wanna do colposcopy n punch biopsies. I keep forgetting to tell treatment Dr. Platelets were bout 22 when I got results. I don't think they'll let me do it anyway.
This may seem unrelated to tx, but I wonder...

Sorry to hear that you have something else to add to your already full plate... it is never good to ignore an abnormal pap, though, Karen.  Certainly your platelets raise concern about any invasive procedure, but this is definitely one result your gyn and tp doc should talk about... maybe proceed with investigation with platelet infusion?  Whether or not it's treatment related is anyone's guess, though.  

Hopefully it's nothing to worry about, as the majority of abnormal paps are not related to malignancy, but you don't want to be that one 'unlikely' scenario, so a good idea to follow up and cross all those t's and dot all those i's just to make sure you don't have other things to worry about, being already immune suppressed.  Good luck with it all.  ~eureka

Medicines and viruses can cause inflammation which could cause Mildly abnormal results.

Hi Karen, you have and such a rough time your just not allowed to hog so many of the sx.  I don't know much about abnormal pap smears, But fungus (yeast) could also cause this I think.  Just like thrush growing in your mouth, you could have yeast in other places from sides I think

Have no idea if these could be possible in this case but thought it might help a little.  Truly hoping you feel better.

Yes I did.  It went away abruptly after tx stopped and I know I was perfectly fine prior to tx. No boyfriend either!!!

Im glad to hear about yeast. I think we've all had a bout of that on tx. I'm hoping thats all it is. I thot tx may be what's messing me up. I'm still fighting that ugly fungus hillbilly nasty toenail! Whattamess. When it rains...

It's good to follow up on an abnormal pap.  I think lots of things can cause an abnormal pap, but don't take any chances.

i've had 2 abnormal paps in the last year.  first one was before tx.  the 2nd one was during tx.  both turned out to be nothing bad.  good luck as you've got enough going on now.  sending you prayers.  belle

Hi Cross...sorry you are having such a rough time.  I've had soo many paps come back its not even funny.  After having a pap I am always expecting their call saying..."I am sure its nothing to worry about but we need to do another pap".  Fortunately, there has never been a problem but it's something you don't want to mess with.  Like everyone else said "don't take any chances"!  You've got enough to deal with now.
