Alcohol after SVR ?

Is the occasional glass of wine  premissable?

I would think it depends on the condition of one's liver. If it is cirrhotic, then drinking even the occasional glass is a bad idea. If it's stage 1 then it wouldn't be.

I honestly dont think a glass of wine or 2 is a bad thing after TX,especially if your  liver was not cirrotic....actually ive been reading it can help lower blood pressure after TX as we all know BP goes up after TX in most people,so ive been reading.I wll be having a clod beer and a glass of expensive red wine on my 6 month PCR,if its SVR .

I am SVR and 2 weeks after my result I decided to celebrate with a small bottle of lovely French Champagne (Pol Roget for those interested!).  It certainly didn't harm me and my doctor said I was fine to do this BUT, surprisingly, what I found was that I didn't enjoy it!  It tasted funny and I didn't get that bubbly 'high' I used to get.  I have tried a sip or two since on different occasions only to find the same thing - I don't like the taste!  So I've decided to remain a non-drinker for now.  Who would of thought?!

This happens to most who abstain from alcohol for sometime,our body rejects it as it really is a type of poision.I have a funny feeling i wont be liking the effects either,it will be 4- 1/4  sincei had a drink if i do have one on SVR day.I really dont want to drink,but this is my way of finshing off the ride

this is written by a hep doctor,maybe a drink or 2 maybe helpful after TX as TX is known to raise blood pressue considerably,of course you should wait at least 6 months post and then some

After SVR, I've been very fortunate to go from Stage 1 to no detectable liver damage as per a Fibroscan test.  I've resumed my occasional enjoyment of single malt scotch, red wine and dark beer.  My body is not rejecting it at all and it's a pleasure I enjoy even more knowing why I can have it again.  If I had more liver damage after SVR, the occasional would be far less to non-existent accordingly.  Very individual.  I hope it's a decision you have for yourself, sooner than later.
