Alcohol when undetectable

Alcohol when undetectable

After I got undetectable results ay 24 weeks I asked one of the doctors at the liver unit I attend whether it would be OK to take an occasional alcoholic drink during the second half of treatment.  (My liver had only ever been mildly inflamed, and my ALT 9 and AST 13).  He said that alcohol was NOT actually contra-indicated on treatment, and that in my case he could see no reason to say no, as long as I did not exeed reccommended limits.

So for the last few weeks I have had enjoyed the odd drink on social occasions (much less than reccommended limits) and psychologically it's made me feel a lot happier.

But from what I read around here I see stories that alcohol cancels out the effect of your drugs which I can't quite believe.  I understand alcohol is bad for a damaged liver, but mine seems to be functioning OK.  Does anyone know the real facts?

Ive got less than 8 weeks to go on treatment, and you will probably all say leave it alone, but 40 weeks on this sh** is a long time and that glass of red I had yesterday was so nice!
