Alina mono therapy results

After of six monts of Alina mono therapy, my viral load are the same as when I started, 2 million.

I'm sorry to hear that but unfortunately the only thing that kills the virus is interferon. For now, we're stuck with it. But at least it works.

Sorry it didn't work. Thank you for posting for others who contemplate trying this "mono" therapy. Waste of time.

No doubt, but only if the patients were aware of the risks you outlined. From the anecdotal stories I've read, the patients on monotherapy were under the impression that they were on a promising and benign therapy with abslolutely no downside. It also appears that no one -- not Romark, not their doctors -- appraised them of these risks. Am I wrong in that Romark apparently promoted Alinia and apparently even offered free dosing to some individuals without any warning about the risks of monotherapy?

The in vitro effectiveness - Ic50 - of Alinia was 45 nanomols. That was 2000 times more potent than ribavirin in this system. It is a similar potency in vitro than the Vertex drug. Now we have to consider intracellular processing and bioavailibility where it mattters - in the hepatocyte, but still this drug seems very capable of supressing HCV replication. It needs to be used in connection with SOC , just like in the Vertex trials, to show its true capacity as a helper drug. If you expect too much from such a drug you get nothing but resistance and a permanently wasted rare opportunity, due to archiving the resistance mutations. We heard of one person that has used in combo with Pegasys - still in the wrong timing- but he is so far UND.

Didn't mean to infer that the "world class" hepatologist validates taking Alinia alone. Frankly, I don't know anything about Alinia but thought you might be interested on what anecdotal accounts have been posted on the net this year.

Using a monotherapy, no matter how potent, against HCV will typically fail after a variable amount of weeks, due to resistance development. Who advised you to use Alinia monotherapy?

Sorry things didn't work out. I can't speak for Spider, but didn't Romark promote Alinia monotherapy a while back? In fact, at least one person on the Janis web site mentioned that Romark gave them free Alinia because they couldn't afford it. I'm pretty sure that they were on Alinia monotherapy as well as others. So maybe the culprit with these Alinia monto thearpies(again not sure about Spider's case) is a combination of Romark and the Internet. That said, I also anecdotally (internet again) heard that at least one world-class hepatologist (actually I think two) told their patient that while they didn't think Alinia would work, they had no problem with their patient taking it (patient didn't want to do combo) since the side effect profile wasn't bad. Again, I believe person also treated with Alinia alone.

Neither Romark or my doctor made any promises.  After reading about Alina on the Romark site, I approached my doctor about trying Alinia mono therapy.  I have had Hep C since at least March 1982 and no change since 1996 biopsy, grade / stage two.  I am not in any hurry to treat and was willing to try something that may or may not work.
