This would be a hard trial for me to get very excited about.

First, the trial is only for prior non-responders, meaning SOC failed them. Yet, the control (placebo) group only gets SOC, meaning their chances of SVR aren't too hot.

Second, the Alinia group, still treats SOC for 48 weeks, pre-dosing with Alinia for one month.

I just don't see why someone would enter this trial with better offerings out there.

"Initiation of the US study and communication of our international data represent important milestones for our development program," said Jean-François Rossignol, M.D., Ph.D., Chairman and Chief Science Officer of Romark who invented nitazoxanide and is leading its clinical development. "We are enthusiastic about the results to be presented at the upcoming AASLD meeting and the opportunity to develop an important new treatment for patients suffering from chronic hepatitis C."

Last year there was a lot of enthusiasm in this Forum about Alinia, eg
http://www.medhelp.org/forums/hepatitis/messages/43576.html
but a long silence followed and Romark did not publish any results so far, or did they?

Is there any new information or experience available?
