Alinia data

Alinia data

Okay, I know it is a small study group and only a phase II study but I thought it'd be worth sharing this info.

Many of the trials that are so highly regarded and discussed on this board are not applicable to many due to stringent exclusion criteria.  Alinia on the otherhand is already FDA approved (for another indication) and much more readily available.

For those interested,  I suggest discussing with your Hepatologist the possibility of using this as part of an "off-label" treatment regimen.

Much has been written on type 4 efficacy but little for type 1.  So here is a link to some encouraging albeit early type 1 data.

Best to all,

My last treatment which I amcurrently SVR I used Alinia as an adjunct and I was type A1 and it worked for me after 3 failed attempts with only SOC treatment.

I am naive geno 4 and I am about to pop my first Alinia with dinner.
Starting the monotherapy which will most likely become the lead in
with added SOC.

thanks so much for this info
I am a bit confused about the numbers

“Patients who did not achieve EVR (at least a 2 log decrease in HCV RNA) by week 12 and/or had detectable HCV RNA at 24 weeks discontinued the study”

If only 1 out of 9 black patients achieved EVR , does that mean that only the one black patient and the 5 white patients continued?

If this is true, how did they get this figure “By week 48, all patients had undetectable viral load”

On another note regarding Romark and Alinia, if you Google Romark and Alinia, you will see that Romark got themselves in a bit of trouble with the FDA for misleading statements regarding Alinia and off label uses.

That being said, when I do treat again I would  include Alinia.

I off labeled it. Wouldn't consider tx with out it at this point. Very little down side. G1, 286k pre tx vl, und @2weeks, also 12 weeks post. 24week pcr was due oct.18 but decided to wait till after christmas to test. Here are a couple of older links and MH discussions. jm

did you preload Alinia for 4wks?

I did. My pre-tx PCR was 283k, that was after the 4 wks of Alinia. I did a pcr 6 months before and it was 53k but my dx pcr, 2.5 years prior was 216k. The reports of vl jumps w/alinia are a concern but my understanding is any move under 2 log really doesn't mean anything. That being said I was pleased that my vl was in the low range and played a part in my decide to stop tx early. jerry

Take a look at the lower right side of this page.  You will see "Most Viewed Health Pages"  Within that you will see "HepResearcher (doctor) on Various Topics".  Click on that and you will see some references to "Alinia"
