Am I undetectable at <43

Entering my 6th week on Incivek: Initial PCR prior to treatment: 3846688, 09/07 hepatimax PCR 64, and latest from hepatimax PCR 09/20 (3 days prior to 4 weeks): <43 (which is the reference range) on the results page.......So is <43 on the hepatimax considered undetectable?  Thanks for your attention. d

I would say it is, by that test.  There are more sensitive tests out there.  Ask your dr about them.  I pushed for the most sensitive out there, <2 , when I was treating.  Celebrate!  It sounds great!

I was told I was UND asked to see it and was show under 43 UND
The PA said I could have been a 6 or a0 but 43 is as low as this particular test goes
Congratulations!
So happy for you

No with Quest under 43 RT PCR.

It sounds great.  However, it is my understanding that, when it is "undetectable", it will say "undetectable".

Yes, very positive results indeed.  My 4 week RT-PCR was und as well, and requested only the TMA for the 12 week just to be sure.  Something to consider for the next test, but time to embrace the good results for now.  Congrats.

Assuming the first Heptimax was performed at wk 2 and it showed 64 IU/mL and because you are treating with Incivek I'll wager money you are UND on this most recent PCR.  I would be comfortable with the results as well.

They didn't do the second part this time but did last. I'll leave it alone and just accept it as undetectable which seems justified. Because of the combined weight of  fatigue and anhedonia generated by these meds I cannot "feel" any celebration but that doesn't negate the positivity of the result! My best. d

As lynda suggests, it sounds like you got the RT-PCR results only that indicated UND (<43), but still have not received the TMA test results.  My understanding is these two test are sometimes run by different labs.  Check with your doc, it should be coming soon.

Have you gotten the TMA portion of the Heptimax back yet?  That is part of the assay that will show under 5 IU/mL which is considered undetected.

I'm fairly sure the level of detection is 43 IU/mL or above with the first part or (Real-time polymerase chain reaction).  I don't think that part of the test can pick up anything below 43 IU/mL. If the first part of the test is below 43 IU/mL the second part or TMA (transcription-mediated amplification)  can pick up HCV RNA between 42 IU/mL and 5 IU/mL.  Some people only have the first part done and consider below 43 a UND.
