Am new, Need help

I was diagnoised with HCV & HBV after a brief stay in the hospital for a very bad staff infection. On my follow up after i was out of the hospital the doc told me I had cryoglobulima, which makes my feet turn very red and sometimes almost blue. My feet hurt most of the time, and if I stay on them over about 3 hours they really hurt. My lovely doctor told me to get back out and get a job and insurance and she would treat me. I can't work because of my feet, have filed for disability(turned down the first time ..of course). Is there any program I could get into to get some assistance for my condition.  need help

Unfortunate news you have there, if I were you this is what I would do.  Get one of those SSI attorneys to take your case.  You don't have to give them any money up front, they will want a third of your back pay.  Your back pay only goes back 6 months and unfortunately it's not alot of money.  It only amounts to almost $5400.00, attorneys here in CA charge a third of that.  It's one way to make sure you're gonna get it, I had a girlfriend who did it.  Even with the attorney, she was still denied.  It didn't even phase the attorney, it was taken to an administrative hearing a couple of times and she got it.  She got it with almost no documented healthcare.  Unless you have plenty of healthcare documentation and sometimes even if you don't, disability is difficult to get.  Oh, and with the economy the way it is, I would think it just got harder.   good luck

Oh, as far as your health issues.  You can go to www.clinicaltrials.gov and find out, with your cryoglobulima it makes it that much more difficult.  I'm surprised the doctor wasn't a bit more helpful, some doctors aren't very caring to us, that's for sure.  Hopefully someone else will chime in with information.

For assistance with your disability claim, google "legal services" and the name of your state to locate civil legal services.  The federal government (also most state governments) fund legal services for low income people in areas of law such as government benefits.  You may be eligible for representation by an attorney at no cost to you, and such an attorney will not take any portion of the funds you recover.  See my journal entitled "Access to Justice" for more information.  Good luck.

Yes, jd is right, apparently they do help.  How much they help, I don't know.  I'll leave the link for one in CA.  I've also heard that Harm Reduction Services helps you, again I don't know how much these agencies help.  I would think that they would be completely overbooked with ppl who are seeking assistance, but it would certainly be worth a try.
