Amalgam Toxicity

Well, the dental association will lead you to believe that amalgam (silver) fillings are safe. There is no conclusive evidence up to modern day that verifies that. On Netflix, there is a documentary that shows actual mercury vapors coming out of a tooth filled with amalgam. I mention this because we don't need any more toxicity to the liver than we get from day to day food, drinks and so on.

The alternative is composite fillings. Those are the ones that look like natural teeth enamel. Do your own research if you have doubts. I did a lot before posting and the jury is still out on this important issue. I'm having several fillings redone and insisted on composite as opposed to amalgam. Otherwise, it's up to you and your liver...

Well it never hurts to ask. You know what they say about the only stupid question. It's like Diogenes, but with a Baby Ruth instead of a lantern.

You are totally insane - but that's not a bad thing.
I found that very funny in a very weird way.

I'm with Mike, aesthetics are important. So I like the gold because you can get spades and hearts and such carved into them. But you do have to be careful with chocolate. You get a blob of chocolate stuck in your spade and it looks like you had the dentist glue on a little tu_rd. The ladies don't seem to go for that look.

I've been concerned about this and have been gradually replacing big fillings with crowns.  The dentist told me that if aesthetics aren't an issue, gold is the best choice because it is closest in hardness to natural teeth. Composite and porcelain are fine too and of course are more naturally colored.

If you have amalgam taken out, ask the dentist to use a rubber dam.  It's a big piece of rubber that lines your mouth to prevent any amalgam bits or dust from being swallowed.  Dentists don't like to use rubber dams because they are pain to deal with, but I insist.

Gold is a great alternative. I have a gold crown that has been in for 30 years and still good as new. Withstands cold, heat, and just about everything else...

What about gold?
That's been my choice.
Or gold covered with porcelain for crowns when I am concerned about aesthetics.
