Amonia levels and Hep C

My husband was diagnosed with hep c over 20 yrs ago.  Around 8 years ago he underwent interferon therapy and was told at the end of the study that all of his LFT's were within normal limits and showed no signs of active hepatitis.  He has not had a checkup or any type of physical since then.  I have heard that your amonia levels can be elevated with liver disease and that one of the symptoms is fatigue and increased sleeping.  My question is, how likely is this to be the case if he has no other signs or symptoms?

Hello,
My Mom has had HCV for about 4 yrs now. Her amonia levels get high somtimes. I know from her that when it does get high she doesn't know where she is, who anyone else is- not even her kids! It can be pretty scary at times. She'll have a transplant soon. She's a 3-4 on the scale. About 4 mths ago she got put on this medication,( I'm not sure what it's called, I'll find out for u) since she has been on it her amonia levels haven't gone up very much at all. Don't get me wrong she still sleeps alot & she's weak, but that's a normal thing for having HCV. Good luck to u and ur husband, I will let u know the name of the med. when I talk to her. God Bless!
