WOOHOOO!!!! One year and clearClear by design Clear eyes Clear eyes acr Clear eyes clr Clear-atadine Clear-atadine children's!!! Sorry to use up a thread but I feel like a 2-ton weight has been lifted off my heart.
For those who are new I WAS a 1b, infected over 30 years ago while working in a hospital. Diagnosed in '92, treated from 10/02 through 9/03, clearClear by design Clear eyes Clear eyes acr Clear eyes clr Clear-atadine Clear-atadine children's at 12 weeks, went on Procrit and NeupogenNeupogen Neupogen singleject at week 9 for the duration. My liver enzymes went to normalNormal saline flush after only 2 weeks on tx and my ALT last week was 15.
Today, I feel great, hair all grew back and skin cleared up. The only permanent side effects are cataracts in both eyes (had an eye exam before starting tx - I highly reccommend everyone do so) and I'll probably be on Protonix (think little purple pills) for the rest of my life.
To celebrate, I plan to live my life like this is the only one I get. Right now I am going to crack open a bottle of champagne that I put away two years ago. Cheers!!
Great news !
I hope someday to be able to say the same thing for myself.
For now I can't re-Tx. But I sure can wish all those sitting on that SVR bus all the best.

Yeahhhhh!!! Great News! Wish I was there to do a little cheer with ya! Of Course mine would still be the bubbly grape LOL but one day,,,I will be doing same! So happy for you!
That is such WONDERFUL news. You were one of the first I met here and have always been such an inspiration to me.Congratulations, and don't let the bubbles tickle your nose too much :) Kim
Way to go...I'm so happy for you and your new hcv-free life. We're all so happy for you. I will raise my glass of grape juice to toast your success. The feeling of relief after all you've been through must be so incredible. Enjoy enjoy enjoy
Judi
Many congratulations to you on you SVR! Hopefully, I will be as fortunate as you have been when my time comes for my 6th month PCR and so on...
Remember... drink that champagne with someone that you love, and you will have life by the butt....

Way to go!!!! My congratulations on the SVR!!!! I know you will celebrate! I am coming up on one year post tx in two weeks. So far, so good. I will be happiest after the two year post-tx PCR, but the one year is just about as good as it gets!
I hope you continue feeling better and better as time goes on. No telling how great we might ultimately feel after a few years of SVR, and a new psychology regarding ourselves...not to mention a whole new physiology! Many of us barely remember what it felt like decades ago to be without this virus.
Congratulation Galen I am very happy for you, I know how long and hard this has been, now you get to move on with your life, don't look back, live every day as if it were your last.
you were the first person I met here, feels like a long time ago, You are the reasonI stayed on TX, there were times I just had, had enough of that DRAGON, but you stayed with me and edged me on, with your understanding and compassion, now I am done with tx, two wks away from my six month post tx, pcr.. And I am feeling great, thanks for being there when I and many others here needed you. HAVE A GLASS OF THAT BUBBLY FOR ME, MAYBE SOME DAY WE CAN HAVE ONE TOGETHER. GOOD LUCK. I WISH YOU THE BEST
Congratulations! I just got my results too! I was dx in Nov, 2003 by my insurance company and after all the tests through the hospital it was determined that I cleared on my own. I retested 8/30/04 (just to make sure that I wasn't recently exposed) and got the results today!
TEST RESULT NORMAL RANGE
HCV LOAD bDNA <615IU/mL <615
Log10 RNA <2.79
HCV Load Interp 800,000 IU/mL = 2 million PCR copies/mL
That is just great news. You were one of the ones that inspired me to treat I am a 1b also 35 yrs infected. I am finishing up in 8 wks a total of 72 wks in total.
Congratulations, Galen. And all the parts seem to be in working order too!! Or at least the important ones. I imagine this last year went by more quickly for you than the one before. It certainly has for me. Besides champagne, what does your extended liver-care regimen consist of?
You, being one of the early members here I am really thrilled about your success. I just can't express how good your post makes me feel. Congratulations and thank you for all the support and information you've provided. Stay well. Mike
