Anti-HCV test

How long after a possible infection will an anti-HCV test show for sure if someone is infected or not?

someone has posted on this before.  I'm not positive on the answer but someone here will have a better answer.  I would think a couple months but not sure on that.

Take care,

Steve

Would that be an HCV antibody test?

It can take up to 6 months to develop antibodies to hepatitis C.  It is recommended you get tested 6 months after exposure.

Hope this helps....

most antibodies develop within 3 wks from infection, some might take longer but testing a month from exposure can give an idea for the most part

Please help.  I was taking antibiotics for urea plasma before a hephatitis test which was diagnozed HCV possitive.  Could this antibiotic have triggered a possitive result?
