Thank you both. I spoke to my doctor yesterday and he told me that he did a complete panel and my liver enzymes were normal-and to stop worrying about it.. I probably should take this test anyway.

Antibodies will show up anywhere from 2 - 26 weeks after exposure. Your negative antibody test is a good indicator you were not exposed to the virus but it is usually recommended that the test be repeated in six months. If you are uncomfortable with waiting you can aways have an HCV RNA by PCR. A PCR is very accurate and will detect the the actual virus 2-3 weeks after exposure.

The average time for antibodies to form is 11 weeks. You could do a viral load test now (HCV/RNA by PCR).
