Any comments or info on Harvoni treatment

I just took my first dose of Harvoni today.  I was diagnosed with Hep C in 1999---but who knows how long I really have had the virus.  I have always been pretty much asymptomatic, so was never interested in treating it.  But after doing some research on the new treatments available, my interest was piqued.  I found about Harvoni, and was quickly approved for treatment under Medicare.  I have been told that the ONLY side effects are possibly fatigue and headaches.  In VERY rare instances, insomnia also---but VERY rarely (according to my doctor)  As I have read comments in the forum, I have read about leg cramps and all other manner of side effects....????  I have not consumed alcohol or IV drugs for over 26 years...and my viral load is not extremely high.  I have no cirrhosis.  I'm wondering---- how bad are these headaches?  I HATE headaches, and can't function with having one.  I never get them normally.  I'd appreciate any info on anyone taking Harvoni and experiencing headaches. Do they occur throughout the entire treatment?  Only at the beginning?  I'd welcome any comments from people taking Harvoni, and what their side effects have been, and how they coped with them.  I am a healthy, active person...fortunately not battling any other liver disease besides Hep C.  Looking forward to any comments.

I just finished Harvoni and I'm one of the many warriors on this site who have been through several treatments.  Harvoni is not only head and shoulders above the rest in terms of cure percent, but also in terms of minimal side effects for most people.  At one point around the holidays I was experiencing headaches, but I cut back on all the sugary and salty holiday  food and drank more water and from that point on my headaches were cut way down.  I think you'll be alright with the Harvoni, I did 12 weeks and it went pretty fast, now I have to wait another 12 weeks to see if I've made SVR.  Good luck to you!!

Hi and Welcome.  Congragulations on getting started with Harvoni.  I have not taken this drug but know the side effects are very minimal.  I'm sure others with add on their experiences and give you a heads-up on S/E.  Again, glad you found us and welcome.
