Anyone doing procrit and pegasys injections the same day?

My procrit is on the way.  My RN said I can do the procrit on the same day as the pegasys, unless I do not want to deal with the side effects at the same time.  So far, I do not have any major side effects that I am aware of from the pegasys injections.
Do you think it is easier to do the injections on the same day, or do you prefer doing it on different days?  Once you pick a day and a time, do you have to stay with that day and time?
I know I will be taking the pegasys for a long time;  not sure how long I will be on the pegasys, my RN said it could be a long time.  This week is my 7th week of tx….it looks like I am doing tx for 48 wks.   Thanks.   Ginger

I do mine on different days for no special reason. I do procrit three times a week and my riba has been reduced. I still do not have any energy, and I have been on procrit for over a month now. Only difference I can tell is that I don't sleep all the time. my hgb stays right around 8.3 the last two weeks

My husband was on both Peg and Procrit for a long time, and on some days, it just overlapped (Peg 1x week and Procrit every 4 days).  He never had an issue getting both shots the same night, though; didn't seem any different than when injecting on separate days.  My husband did experience sx with Peg, usually a day or two after the injection, but the only one he got with Procrit was a little burning with the injection itself, and didn't seem to attribute any bad sx to it.  Though for hubby it wasn't fun getting two shots in the same night when they overlapped.

It's difficult to say how long you will need the procrit. Perhaps when you are through with the 12 weeks of Incivek and if the ribavirin is not the major culprit destroying your red blood cells and HGB then then you might not have to take it for the remainder of tx, It's seems that most people that become anemic will either need a riba dose reduction or procrit throughout treatment though and often it's a combo of dose reduction and procrit.

It's a dance of sorts since you need a certain amount of ribavirin to insure you don't relapse and taking procrit has it's own risks.
Good luck,
Dave

I meant to say  " I know I will be taking the pegasys for a long time;  not sure how long I will be on the PROCRIT - my RN said it could be a long time. "

I've done it several times when I was on tx although not always. The nurse gave you the right answer, imagine that :)

I was on three rescue drugs and the only one I didn't really have sides from was the procrit. Everyone is different regarding sides. I did "prefer" to take the injections on different days if possible. Neupogen for low ANC is the only rescue drug that is advised to be taken at least 24 hours before or after the peg.

If you are treating for 48 weeks you will be taking pegasys and ribavirin for 48 weeks.
