Anyone have a taste in their mouth after injecting interferon

I took my fifth injection today. I inject in my belly. I really tasted the interferon instantly this time, never before though. Has anyone had this experience.

to me it pretty much tasted like a chemical compound, maybe anti-freeze and not just on occasion, usually.

I was really shoving the redipen in my gut and kept it in for a while trying to insure I got every bit. I kept thinking about how you said you mad sure you got every bit out of your interferon vial. LOL

I think I’ve read that alpha interferon is administered intravenously when used for cancer chemo, rather than as we use it for antiviral therapy.  I imagine that taste you experienced is a result of hitting a small vein somehow. I remember the same taste back in those days…

Yes, have had bad taste since about 18 weeks and I too posted regarding this.  Mine is a sour, metallic type taste.  Sometimes worse then other times.  It does affect the taste of certain foods, like bread, tomato sauce, etc.  I think I am getting used to it and stay away from certain foods like sandwiches unless grilled as just not worth it.   Can be good if you are trying to cut back!  Try mints, drinking lots of water, herbal or other tea.  My dr. said dark chocolate and I tried that and did not see much relief.

That's what I was thinking also diane. I remember when I did the crap that got me this disease(30 years ago) that I would taste the drugs as I injected them. It scared me that maybe this was dangerous with interferon, but I am probably just overreacting.

I feel worse in the past few days but overall not unmanageable. My body feels like it's pulsing and I feel kinda of wired like my nervous system is off kilter even though I am really tired. Very weird feeling. The brain mush thing has taken a turn for the worse. I know many people have experienced much worse then I so I really can't complain. If we win the ultimate prize it will all be worth it!

I start the boceprevir tomorrow.

I got a kind of "rush" last week, and then the next day I noticed I had a bruise where I had done my shot, so I figured I had hit a capillary and some went straight into my blood stream. That was the only time that has happened. I took my 8th Friday. Are you still feeling OK?
