Anyone with Genotype 1 and High Viral Load Sustain SVR?

by LindaC1207, Oct 07, 2008 01:08PM
Where my doctor told me that my viral load is 27,400,000, I'm very concerned that my chances of clearing the virus aren't very good.  My doctor told me that they've had better responses from those with high viral loads but that's not what I've been reading on the internet, supposedly it's just the opposite.  Makes me wonder why she told me this, does she believe it herself, was she trying to make me feel better, keep me on treatment, what?

I'd like to hear from anyone who was/is genotype 1 and had/has a very high or high viral load and cleared the virus or is UND at 12 weeks.

Thank you!
Linda

There is no difference re SVR rates with high viral load versus very high viral load. So, in your case you have the same chance as SVR as someone with a viral load of let's say 1 million IU/ml. Only low viral loads (under 500,000 ballpark) have a better chance of SVR. Most here start treatment with either high or very high viral loads.

I had a very LOW viral load of around 500k and did not clear until somewhere between weeks 12 - 24 so I had to extend from 48 weeks treatment to 72.  It is true that it is not always a great indicator of how well someone will do - I can tell you that first hand.

It's all a big giant gamble and we start out with the same odds pretty much as geno 1s.

I even had TWO different geno 1s (1A and 1B) and both are now gone and I am SVR almost two years.

Go figure!
