Sorry pink .. didn't look at your profile. Geno 1 is very common here in North America.
Now I note that you are 21. That is also in your favour. It seems that people handle treatment better when they are younger and you have time to work that into your life. You're the age of my son and my daughters are just a wee bit older than you so I confess a bit of fondness for the younger ones. :)
You have much positives in spite of the seriousness here. I'll be hoping for you. Please let us know how you make out as you go along.
Trish
thanks Trish77 for your support.
this type is not common here in the midel east, type 3 is the most common.
If you are genotype 1, then you are in the majority of us. Try not to be too sad. It's a common result.
What you have going for you is that your viral load is very low AND that you found this out by accident, not because you're having symptoms. They call HCV the "silent killer" because it does it's damage silently and often doesn't manifest the kind of symptoms that call attention to it until the damage is already advanced. You found out before that.
Now you know some things. You know your viral load and you know your genotype. The next thing I would suggest (well okay.. strongly suggest!) is that you get a liver biopsy. It sounds like a big deal but procedurally it is *generally* a quick and relatively painless procedure and the main discomfort is perhaps some shoulder pain afterwards and lying on your side for a few hours. That is the experience of MOST.
A liver biopsy will tell you how much, if any, liver damage you have and will complete your picture for you. My guess is that your liver damage will be very low.
If that is the case, that also means that you have the luxury of time ... time to learn more about HCV, time to learn about the various treatment options and time to get used to what this means for your life.
I would echo Nygirl's earlier suggestion to you that you find a good hepatologist too.. find that hepatologist and then get your liver biopsy.
There is also much support to be found here.
It's not the end of the world to be a geno 1. All the genotypes have their own unique challenges.
Chin up, good luck .. and hang in there.
Regards,
Trish
I am very sad know
the result came out, am having genotype 1 !!
Yesterday i did my liver enzyme & genotype test.
My enzyme show it's normal and every thing fine, after 2 weeks my genotaype test will come out.
thanks every one.
Your load is low and you may get complete clearance of virus with treatment. Go for genotype testing
70,055 is low. Someone today reported her's as 75,000,000 - that is high.
low is up to about 1,000,000
medium is about 1,000,000 to 5,000,000
high is more than about 5,000,000
way high is more than 25,000,000
average is about 3,000,000
My PCR test came out, my viral load is 70055 I/U is it 2 high or what?
There is treatment, and it works for many of us. But not everyone. And, the side effects can be significant. I feel a lot better following treatment. Your options will be explained to you by your doctors, whether to treat of not, and when to treat is a decision all of us have to make. Good luck, it will be a bit of a journey for you, but for all its ups and downs, all of life is a journey, so keep your chin up.
Are there any treatment for this??
In which level I should take the drugs?
Most all of us found out we had this disease through the same sort of tests that you did and never had any idea we had it either. The chances of it being a false positive are quite low.
You should find a good GI or Heptologist and they will tell you all that you need to do to start. Mostly it's just more tests...and they'll let you know where you will need to continue on to.
Good luck - this disease is no fun but there is a chance to be "cured".
STEP 1 get more blood drawn, and confirm that you have a "viral load". The test they probaly gave you, just tested for antibodies. It is possible that you have just been exposed. No way to tell with out a test that measures how much virus(not antibodies) is in your blood.
STEP 2 if it is positive and if you drink, STOP!! research what foods are good for you to eat.
STEP 3 get a biopsy.. this will show how much liver damage you may or may not have.. Do you know when you might of been infected??
After a biopsy, you can then make a deceision if you should treat or not
Its rare but some false positives do occur. Also you could have been infected and cleared the virus on your own, also a rareity. You need to have your pcr checked to determine your viral load. usually when someone comes up pos. a viral load is automatically done. See your doc and have him run a cbc, cmp, and a hcv quanitative. This will let you know where you stand. Good Luck.
