And this needs to be addressed and well understood in THEIR pamphlets and propaganda.I totally agree with you.Its the stupid people that are NOT educated that are giving this disease a worse name than it already has!!!!!It just Pi- -es me off to no end.
But the fact is you dont 'get it through sex' you get it through blood to blood contact so to me a doctor who doesn't realize that is just wrong. It's not like something you just 'catch' like a cold virus or something.
BS.
Just came back from my yearly ob exam and I asked her if Hep C was considered an STD?Her reply was yes-she said even if it had a 1/2 percent transmission through sex they have to say yes.IDK so if so why hasnt my husband of 23 years got it ??????They are also distributing the pamphlet that names Hep C as a sexually transmissible disease!!!!!
They should just make sex a crime. I'm sooo sick of it. how to navigate the stupidity, I think it should be a crime for these people to contribute to the gene pool.

Note the senate has already voted; that's a done deal. The house will vote and then on to the Governor.
It is possible that it could go back to committee, or come back up next year if there are not the votes.
IF the house votes the way the senate did ..... it will possibly become law.

here is a link to the list

Here is a list (with e-mail) to the representatives.
Anyone that is diagnosed with HCV is reported to the county and state governments already so we are looked at as "carriers" anyway.
Once again as I have said many times before it is the lack of education why politicians & people act this way. Until money is spent to educate this is the way it will be.
Won't be surprised if other states follow in Tenn foot steps and come up with similar laws.
Anywhere that it has the names of the 30 lawmakers who voted on this?
Would they vote any different if they knew HCV was curable and not sexually transmitted? The legislation is very vague and only talks about disclosure on transmission potential to another person.
Aside from that, there's this whole issue of politicians and medical authorities spreading false information publicly - whether purposely or not - and potentially to influence legislation and spreading misinformation impacting persons with HCV. That's a pretty big "Wow".
In order to drive the legislation through the are publicizing that the disease in incurable.
What do you think about that?
How long will it take to wash that from the minds of the public; probably NEVER.

Hey Dave...good to see you...yes our Labatts might get them on the right track. lol !
Maybe if you send those politicians in tennessee a few cases of labatts they will chill out a little. Maybe the still is tainted!
A crime?? And how exactly do the grandstanding politicians of the state of Tennessee propose to enforce this crime and punishment I wonder..
What...you get registered as a HCV carrier and then assigned a govt. official or a cop to follow you around and inquire of any sexual partners if you told them.
Or maybe a phone call to the local police station: I think my partner has HCV" Well how do you know? " Gee, I"m not sure ,he/she never told me,I just think that maybe
Yes ...it would be great if something could be done to curb the spread of this awful disease..but a crime?? All just IMHO
WILL
Even 1% makes it possible to transmit the disease sexually so I think it should be a crime not to tell a sex partner. I think the % is much higher especially in the gay community or if someone has multiple sex partners.
I dont think people in Tennessee would notice. Although Tennessee is where Steven Gaskin started the Farm, midwifery, vegetarianism, growing your own food, living off the land,
It was the Tennessee Senate
Yes..... I think an economic boycott is worth considering.
I wasn't sure whether to mention it but seeing how so few people responded to the thread.... do people not care?

I have always loved coming for a visit to the States,...might think about by-passing Tennessee next time tho...:)
My thought is never underestimate the stupidity of your fellow man (or woman).
This $ucks it's just what we don't need. What a contrast the CDC doesn't recommend condom use, and now they're trying to create a law criminalizing our existence.
