Autoimmune Hepatitis

by Mary, Oct 11, 2000 12:00AM
My daughter is 14 yrs old.  When she was 8 she was very ill with lymphoid hyperplasia(autoimmune disease)  She has now been diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis.  Her doctor put her on 40mgs of Prednisone but is weaning her off while she is taking 50mgs. of purinethol.  I am concerned about the longterm affects of this drug, but my main question is if I should explore deeper into the fact that this is her second autoimmune disease?  According to her doctor the blood levels are improving, but when she had a second ultra sound-the liver, spleen, and bile ducts were still enlarged.(The bile ducts being 6.5.)  I would appreciate any thoughts on this.  I just want to do everything I can for her.
