Autoimmune Hepatitis

by Dawn, Nov 12, 2000 12:00AM
I am 29 and was just diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis. My liver levels are about 400 and increasing every day. I have had a second opinion and he agrees with the diagnoses. They have started me on Predinsone 30mg and I will start Imuran next week. Here is the question. I am over weight and was considering the Mini-Bypass Gastro Surgery. Am I still able to have this? I am very worried about diabeties and high blood pressure I am border line with them both. If I can't have the surgery can I try a liquid diet something to help me lose the weight. I ahve tried the diet meds and they do work but the drs say I cant take them any longer.  Is there anything that you know of that will help me? I the side efects are terrible for a person with weight but untreated the liver disease is worse. What do you recommend?
