Autoimmune hepatitis and use of other medication

by Mary, Sep 07, 2000 12:00AM
My mother has had autoimmune hepatis over 10 years. She has recently experienced a flare up in her liver count and was put on
a high dosage of prednisone for 6 weeks. (40 mgs). She is being lead by down to her maintenience dose of 15 every other day. The question is- all this prednisone is making her very nervious and she is upset at the drop of a hat. Is there any "nevve" pills she would be able to take that would not damage her liver more or cause her counts to go back up ? She is not a person who abuses drugs and has only taken this type of medication 20 years ago for a short time when she went through the memopause.Do you know of any medication she could take that would make her more comfortable that would be safe for her to use?
