Autoimmune hepatitis

by jldmom, Jul 08, 2001 12:00AM
My daughter was diagnosised with autoimmune hepatitis one year ago at age 12.  She had significant scarring on biopsy at the time of diagonsis but has responed well to prednisone and immuran.  I was under the impression that she could be tapered off the prednisone in 6 months yet at her follow up appointments her doctor seems reluctant to do so.  My daughter is very discouraged by this and I am wondering if it is reasonable to think that she will be able to be weaned from prednison and controlled with Immuran alone? thanks in advance for your help.
