Seeking--there is a new medication called Provigil, and while I am not a physician and don't know your health history, it is apparently helping many people with fatigue from certain problems. Do a search on the 'net and see if it might merit a discussion with your doc. I don't know if it is hepatotoxic.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Others--husband went to the family doc last week to refill his blood pressure meds. Asked for them to do a viral level just to see if he was still undetectable, seeing as how he hasn't been seen by his gastro in a year and a half. He questioned the lab tech repeatedly on they type of test they were doing, that it was the viral ##'s he was looking for, NOT the antibody. She assured him she was ordering the correct test.

Gee- today on the answering machine was the somber message that he has tested positive for the hep C antibody, and the name of a specialist to see to discuss treatment options. DUH!
Called back to tell them they had done the wrong test, and was told that "he would have to come in to discuss the reason for furthur testing" with the doctor. GRRRRRRR!

Anyone ever hear of any reason to not take Allegra when doing tx? Anyone here ever take it while on tx? Thanks in advance.

Got the results of my 48-week Heptamax. Undetectable at < 5 IU/mL and RNA (LOG IU/mL) at < 0.70. (Anybody know what that second number means?)

Anyway, I'm relieved. Now for the waiting. Showboat's wonderful comment to Berlynn has been stuck in my mind ("No worries, Kim, you and I are beating the drum around that fire at the DragonRoast........we will both be dancing with the others some day!!!!!")

Showboat, I am on the sidelines getting painted up, waiting to see whether I will dance or drum. Whatever happens, I am in the best company. SVR to all.

Yes I am pre Tx and take vitamins. I take b-12, Vit C, a multi vitamin (less iron), zink, flax oil for omegas, and Also take 100-200 grams of whey protein per day. I have more then enough energy and will e-mail you some if you would like! (if only it was that easy! Huh?) may I suggest something else though. Many people believe that when they lack energy it is because they are vitamin defiant. This is not always the case. I thought it was with me also but do not believe it was. I work out strenuously and need more ingredients than my diet can achieve through foods. I would ask what are you eating? What

While on tx, I've tried both Allegra and Zyrtec to help with "allergy-like" symptoms. My GI prescribed & said both OK while on tx. The Allegra gave me headaches and dry throat, so I switched to Zyrtec. Claritin didn't work so well for me and Benedryl knocks me out. Everyone's different.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! - on being clear at the very end! On to SVR now!!!

I'm not sure, but one guess would be that the '.70' you mention is the lower detection limit (LDL) at <5IU for the Heptimax test. I know that the Roche COBAS Taqman has a LDL of 100% at <10IU and 72% at <5IU - meaning that it's results are considered 100% accurate at <10IU and only 72% accurate at <5IU. So it's possible that the .70 refers to a 70% accuracy for the Heptimax at <5IU.

thanks both of u for your responses!
i do appreciate u taking the time for such a small question.

lou - i am a pretty health eater - whole organic foods only - lots of shrimp, chicken, asparagus, and brown rice.
no carbs tho. i mean none. i find that if i eat heavy foods im more drained and i can feel my body work them down, not a good feeling. for breakfast i eat fat free yogurt with a piece of fruit or oatmeal (very rare) i hate oatmeal. i am 31, bout 110 pounds and i work all day and go to school at night so no time for exercise, maybe that is the problem, i may need more exercise!!! my mom is a yoga instructor and claims yoga is the way to go, maybe i'll try that when i get home in the evening.
i do take milk thistle, vitamin e and now b-12. i drink a shot of beet juice mid day to wake up, doesnt help much.
my concern is that by mid day i get so tired looking at the darn computer that it hurts, i feel like my head is going to fall off my shoulders, i have started to shut my office door at lunch and lay my head on my desk and rest my eyes, that sorta helps.

anyway, ive wriiten too much already. thanks for listening.

I agree with lou, you dont seem to have enough good carbs (Except for the fruit and brown rice) to meet the blood glucose need of your brain (the organ with the largest need for sugar) So, you might load up on all the vitamins you want, if you are not fueling your brain with the sugars it needs, it is money wasted. Not all sugars are bad, Lou's carb comments make nutritional sense. Read any book on nutritional needs for your brain, to learn the glucose process in that organ.
best to you

i and the dr had the same problem reading that second number(on page 2) on the heptimax...my test came back >5 though, so i'm still positive...

why couldn't my dr read that test? what is wrong here? why don't even the drs know how to read these things? i'm very surprised my dr even admitted to me that he couldn't tell what it meant...how ridiculous...

my second page of the report was telling me to multiply by something but then the number you come up with dosn't make sence... does yours tell you to multiply something and does the second page give conflicting info from the first page? sandi
