IF MY ANA LEVELS HAVE BEEN SLIGHTLY ELEVATED, THEN DOES IT WARRANT A LIVER BIOPHY TO BE DONE OR MORE EXTENSIVE BLOODWORK STUDIES? HE DID A CATSCAN OF THE ABDOMEN AND THAT CAME BACK FINE AS DID MY ANNUAL CHOLESTEROL, JUST THIS AGAIN.
If the doctor has reason to believe you have autoimmune hepatitis then a biopsy would be a good thing. If you just have slightly elevated ANA with no other symptoms, that is common in women. 10% of healthy women have elevated ANA's at some point in their lives. That is a huge number of ladies.
