BX report vs fibrosure/scan

BX report vs fibrosure/scan

Got back the bx report today and it looks good. i can not believe i can not figure this out. not sure if i'm stage 0 or 1. maybe someone can help me with this. it was a very simple report, i will write exactly what it says:
Mild Portal Chronic Inflammation (grade1)
No significant lobular activity (score 0)
Focal mild portal fibrosis (stage 1) by trichrome & reticulin stains
stainable iron not increased
RARE (incidental) focus O=benign bile ductule proliferation/dilatation, consistent with Von meyenburg complex (bile duct hamartoma)
Comments: the diagnosis is concurred by multiple staff pathologista in intradepartmental consultation

I wrote this word for word off the brief report. i will not see the doc until oct 15 to ask questions, especially about the bile duct thing. from what i read on a google search about it i think i'm ok. figures i would have some rare thing show up. overall i think it is good but would like to know my grade & stage and if anyone has anything to add about the bile duct thing. also nothing about fatty liver, would they have noted that in a bx? dont they always give a score on  steatosis? thanks for all the help

10/06, fibrosure F0, no fibrosis. A1 minimal activity
8/2/07 fibroSCAN, 8.8 stage 1 closer to 2 as explained by Dr A in boston
8/16, fibrosure  F0, no fibrosis. A1 minimal activity
9/21/07 BX ?????

The Hospital where I go is getting a fibroscan unit in November - Yippe!!!

Because the Government has not passed it's approval they can only use it in research - guess who's gonna get to have a fibroscan as part of their research - you guessed it - the *dip*  Yippe!!!

It looks very good to me. You and I must have things in common because that Von Meyenburg Complex looks like something I would see on my labs. Not the same complex but something else similarly obscure and confusing. From what I found just now it seems benign and benign is GOOD. Mike

You're too smart to ever sound stupid. Yes, it looks like 1 & 1 to me but I have seen pathologists disagree too many times to think I have anything more than a clue about staging/grading. My guess is that the comment referring to "concurred by multiple staff pathologista(sic) in intradepartmental consultation" was triggered by the diagnosis of Von Meyenburg Complex - they were probably frantically trying to assign a name to what they were seeing or thought they were seeing and the Von Meyenburg had to be confirmed by more than 1 person before they ran it up the pole. Am I too cynical? Of course I am. Honestly, everything looks very reassuring to me Copyman. Stay well, Mike
