Begin Phase III Trial now or wait for new meds

Phase III Study - BI 201355:  I am in line to begin this trial very soon.  Any info would be appreciated

The drug looks promising.  For me it would all depend where I stood at the time.  Factors such as current Liver damage, resources, insurance, Genotype, etc.  Right now it looks like interferon is still in the mix.  If you had minimal or no damage you might have a wait and see and try to get in on a trial that does not include interferon if possible.   I have been waiting to see if I could do treatment without interferon but looks like that isnt an option for me.  I will start with the new drug telaprevir  hopefully may 15th.  Why are you interested in doing this trial?  I could not find a phase III trial with this particular drug.  can you paste where you are getting your information from?

You may want to look at our thread about trial participation if you have not already. You will always give up something when entering into a trial rather then treating privately . As his3707 mentioned consider carefully your medical and financial need to treat before making this decision.

Thanks for the feedback, I did look at the thread about trial participation and took a copy of the list of questions with me this morning.  Waiting now for the results from my initial labs and if cleared I'll begin treatment in 2 to 3 weeks.  The staff are very professional and easy to talk ...

I hope your trial screening went well and the information everyone provided was helpful. I was impressed with the results from the prior BI 201355 trials.
