Biopsy still hurts 4 days later

This is my fourth biopsy over 30 years

I remember mild pain
But not for so long
Had it done days ago

No fever, no swelling
But my blood pressure is all over e place very high and low

I did too much for thanksgiving

But am back in bed now

I don't know if the md did a bad job
Or my liver is just in worse shape

The first piece he took out was ok

But the second shook my entire body
Felt my ribs on the opposite left side literally shake

Any ever heard of this?

Hey! I had a liver biobsy about 5 years ago. I missed 4 days of work, I was in a lot of pain after, but it healed up and I was much better a week later. Hope you feel better.

I don't know what you did for Thanksgiving but that stress alone can increase blood pressure as well as any stress or even beliefs about the biopsy which stimulate anxiety.  Coupled with the procedure itself and the healing process you can expect that your blood pressure would be fluctuating.  I have low BP and I have noticed when I go in for my check ups every two weeks that the process of talking or not staying seated for long enough to settle down b/4 my BP check affects it a lot.  Of course, when the nurse gabs and asks questions while she is taking the BP I get annoyed and that makes the reading go up even more.

What I don't understand is why you did not have enough medication to keep you from having those sensations during the procedure.  In any case, it is a good thing that you are now exhausted and getting the rest you should have gotten during the holidays.  Having the doctor confirm that you are going to be ok would be the best way of helping you recover.  There is little liklihood of pain in the liver but you experience pain from the surrounding tissue that is pierced to get to the liver.

You may find that you have had a bleed at the biopsy site that was not stopped at the time of the biopsy. Had a similar problem some time ago and was told this was the probable cause of the pain. If you have any doubts contact your doctor.

Yes, I just had a biopsy myself on 11/23 but I am not going thru any pain right now.  I also once had a biopsy and the doc took two specimens but not this time around.  I think this is my 4th or 5th, all I can say is I felt more movement this time than any other but that was only during the procedure. Be sure the area doesn't turn red and be sure to follow-up with your doctor.  good luck

I was told to just take it easy.  No lifting at all the first day or two then only a little for at least a week... Just take it easy and give it time to heal!

My inclination would be for you to be careful with this. If you are not doing well, telephone in to your doctor's answering service and tell him these things you have written about.
It is possible to have a slow bleed from something that did not stop bleeding as expected or be nicked in a spot unknown to anyone. Blood can accumulate without a lot of symptoms initially. Persistent pain and decreased ability to be up and about are also reportable just for your physician to consider.
You are probably just fine, but if you are worried, it is very reasonable to reach out to the physician to update them and seek their opinion.

Yes they probably pinched a nerve or hit a nerve. My friend had that and she said it hurt like a Bitc* I hope you get better, if the pain does not go away you should call your doctor and let him know. God Bless,
Patches

Thank u Will
Hanging out in bed
Taking it slow
Bad week for biopsy b 4 holiday but is what it is

Think my blood pressure went up from running round and stress and that contributed to the not feeling good
Have never had high BP before only low

It is normal ,as you say to have some mild discomfort for a few days. however if very painful and seems to continue ,a chat with your doctor about that would be warranted.
Although it may not  have anything to do with your bx., having very low BP is one symptom of bleeding,so again.,if this continues, possibly a visit to the doctor.
Good luck...
