Biotene mouthwash

by raheem, Aug 14, 2003 12:00AM
I just got some Biotene mouthwash and it has helped my dry throat and mouth, raspy voice and greatly reduced the soreness in my throat.  I had a throat culture that was negative and the Dr. suspected Copegus (ribavirin) is the cause of the above symptoms.  I wanted to thank "eyedeas" for suggesting it in a previous post.  Saline and salt water were also suggested by others though I haven't tried those yet.  Any others try this stuff?  I know there is also a toothpaste, chewing gum, throat spray etc., anybody try this stuff or is it a gimmick?

hey--
i used the mouthwaash throughout treatment. at some point i also got the toothpaste. it really helped. i don't think it's a gimmick at all. my mouth was trouble during treatmetn--not severe, though and i think it was the biotene that helped. i also rinsed with a little hydrogen peroxide from time to time...
good luck,
macky

I'm going to try the biotene toothpaste. My throat, cough,  and mouth are getting worse by the day.  This is a very annoying side effect of treatment for me.  Thanks kim & raheem!

DTR, I have the mouthwash and just got the toothpaste.  I believe the mouthwash will give you more relief for your symptoms.  I'd like to try the gum someday too. Walgreens, CVS etc. should carry it.  You can also get a bit more info at www.laclede.com  Let us know how it works.  I find that it provides temporary relief-not a cure-but that's cool.
