Blood Tests -- Questions

Yesterday, I got my first blood test and discovered that I was UND.  It was good news.  I also noticed that my HGM had dropped from 13.7 to 10.3.  I guess I was sort of excited yesterday and I didn't notice that HCT said 29.7L (meaning low).  I'm a little confused on this issue.  I know that hematocrit concerns red blood cells and their size and a low level indicates anemia, and it can mean other things as well.  I'm just curious if is this is normal and a good sign that it has dropped from 40.8 to 29.7.  I have not been able to reach my doctor.

Thanks,
Debbie

you will see that hematocrit rises and falls in the same ratio as hgb. for most people, hematocrit is usually just about three times higher than hgb and maintains that ratio.

Congratulations on your great news!

I agree with FLGuy - don't worry about your HCT.

Good luck,
Mike

Thank you for that information.  This is what I thought, but I wanted to make sure.
