Make sure you know what your dr will request as far as blood work and how often, some people here do more often, some less.  Check to see that he regularly monitors your thyroid and glucose levels. Ask them what their protocol is and have everything clear before you leave his office.  GL to you

You posted your email addy a few threads ago. Is it ok to email you off forum?  I was wondering if you would look at my blood tests results for me as I have a couple of questions about them.
Thanks for your time.

And re: platelet count -- I read the summary of the study presented by the U. of IL at the 54th AASLD, reporting Vioxx helped to maintain platelet count (in patients on treatment who were showing a drop).  My own count took a nosedive in the first 4 weeks.  I was anxious about the possibility of having to reduce my Pegasys dose, and was already taking Celebrex for my arthritis (OA).  (The U. of IL was giving the Vioxx for side effects, tho; this applicable to anyone.)  I switched to Vioxx, and my platelet count stopped plunging, and is coming back up ... slowly, but any Up is better than down, here.  Just a tidbit to file away in case you need it later.
