Blood clot post tx

by gazebo1, Aug 28, 2007 09:28PM
I posted over on community side, but maybe this is where I should ask this...

Hi guys, been following the forum since finishing TX in May, but just wanted to now ask a question.  I'm doing "OK", and sure have more energy, but some medical conditions still bother me.  My blood chemistry really got messed up and now my Plt Count is down to 32 (never was very high, 87K back in Dec.), but I've developed a blood clot in the splenic vein and doc unsure about blood thinners to clear up due to low platelets.  He thinks it should not move to portal vein, but I'm really getting upset.

So, just thinking Jimbo or some others may have heard of clots after TX and have some thoughts. (not advice Jim, of course - hope you are well buddy).

Regards,  G

Sorry about the complications. Wish I had some knowledge or advice re clots post treatment. Is your doc a hepatologist? Whether he is or not, if he's "unsure", either ask him for a referral to an appropriate specialist, or find one yourself for another opinion. Hope things get better soon and please let us know how it works out.

All the best,

-- Jim
