Brain fog

I constantly have headaches lately and I feel more and more "foggy" in my head. I have hep c and I'm waiting for a treatment with sovaldi. Does any one recognize these specific symptoms and what. can I do about  it?

I would suggest seeing your Hepatologist about your symptoms so that you can get a diagnosis and start treatment if needed. If you do have early Hepatic Encephalopathy, you want to know that and get treatment for it.

Hepatic Encephalopathy can be treated. Unless it is advanced and you have brain damage, HE is not permanent. It is treatable. It is a matter of getting rid of the toxins in your blood (which your liver would normally do, but cannot do, because it is damaged).

So the first step is to see your Hepatologist to see if you actually have HE. If you do, the Hepatologist will treat it.

Hopefully, if your symptoms are from HE, after you are able to treat and cure your Hep C, your liver function will improve and the HE will resolve (if you actually have HE).

Best of luck.

Your diet should include fruits and vegetables.  NO alcohol.  Little or no red meat. No raw shellfish.   Get plenty of exercise - long walks are fine. Stage 4 is cirrhosis so you may be developing hepatic encephalopathy  (HE). Your hepatologist should let you know if you have portal hypertension.  If your brain fog is early HE, you can take lactulose (a special laxative) to help clear the toxins that are not being cleared by your damaged liver.

I wish you the best as you await approval of the new meds.

I know i have to get a treatment asap.
But as in many European countries and also in Holland where i live the waiting is for the green light from the insurance companies to cover the costs of a treatment with sofosbuvir.
My liver is in between stage 3 and 4.
My question is how can i battle this brain fog and head aches. Are there things i should our shouldn't eat, what do other people with this same symptons do about it?
I hope its not due to a build up of ammonia in my blood but just a side effect from the hep c.

There are many reasons for headaches. Men have cluster headaches (look it up if it applies to you), sinus problems, and other issues. I would not blame everything on Hep. C. In fact- if you have stable condition, you do not have to treat now.

Sorry you are getting headaches and more brain fog. What condition is your liver in? As the previous poster said, you need to treat your hep c asap. The sooner you are cured of the virus, the sooner your liver will begin to repair itself. I hope you are seeing a hepatologist who will treat your symptoms and put you on the best treatment for your geno type.

Good luck.
