I've had tinnitus ever since I was dx in 2000. I don't think it's any worse now than it was, but it's definitely part and parcel of the whole thing. I'm hoping it will either go away or lessen once I'm off tx (which seems like FOREVER!). At first, I had a hard time tolerating the ringing/buzzing thing, but now I don't really notice it except at night when everything is quiet. I did go to an audiologist who told me it wasn't affecting my hearing and that he really couldn't do anything about it. (i.e. Live with it!) Not what I wanted to hear, but that's what I do at the moment. Another fun wrinkle to deal with on this roller coaster!

Just wanted to add that there are all kinds of quack remedies guaranteed to cure or reduce tinnitus! All I can say is, good luck trying to get your money back.

Thanks to both of you . My Dr. said he would refer me to the ENT , but I figure it started with the tx ...I am going to the health food store and buy some ear candles. That always works .

i've had it too at times on tx. the first time i noticed it i thought locusts were outside and got up from a sleep to shut the window...just to realize it couldn't be locusts because it was winter!!!

it comes and goes...drove me mad at first now i'm used to it...i get it mostly when waking up from a nap...then it either disapears or fades into the background of the rest of the din of life...

i am disapointed that some here are reporting it didn't go away after tx...

HAS ANYONE OUT THERE'S GONE AWAY AFTER TX? DO TELL!

I have that ringing in the ears... I hoped it would go away when tx ended, but it hasn't. And I too went to an ENT doc and he also said, live with it as nothing has been discovered to tx it. I quit making ear wax on tx, I quit sweating and quit growing hair on my legs. Those functions have all returned I am somewhat happy to report...LOL.

I experienced some ringing the first few months, but I believe it was due to my increasing BP that I believe was caused by the decreasing HGB. Things normalized after Procrit. BP went back to normal and no more ringing. High blood pressure can cause the ringing.

I asked the docs at Mayo about hair color and got a "go ahead if you want to" answer. However, all that I've read elsewhere has said it's not a great idea. I guess if it's going to fall out anyway, it doesn't matter what color it is. I personally feel I've got enough chemicals circulating in my system already and don't need to add more. Besides, I haven't seen my "true self" in decades. Funny, though, now every time I look in the mirror I discover that my mother got in there somehow and is looking back at me.

I too have had occasional ringing in the ears as well as my ears feeling like they might on a plane==you know, like they need to "pop".

I too am loosing hair. Thank God I have a abundance, but it is thinning . The growth pattern is off also . I usually need to cut it every three weeks or I look like a wild woman..havent cut or dyed it since May. Actually I am reluctant to dye it ..I know it is not recommended for those on Chemo . Makes matters worst . Lord , I am about to find out my true color ...LOL
Anyone dying their hair out there?
The hair on my arms and legs grow.

I let my grey grow out for about 6 months, hated it but thought it was best not to dye it during tx. Well my son had to go and get married, and I dyed it cuz I couldnt stand to look so 2-toned in all the wedding pics. But if you wanna dye it, maybe you could use one of those milder types that aren't permanent or are semi-permanent.
I did okay and hope you do too!

I figured that since my eyes were still working and telling me I looked like hell, and of course you feel like it also, that I chose to just feel like it. I dyed it PRN for the duration of Tx. It fell out whether I did it or not.
It is amazing how little hair there is in my brush now, even less than before Tx.

Well i am going to try dying it this week , just a wash . Will let you all know the out come.
ALSO, do not brush your hair , shampoo gently ,use a good conditioner, potion # 9 is a great leave in , the less tugging and pulling the less loss.
I am taking my BF two sons up to AR. to visit the Heber Springs area . My daughter lives there and has a new boat ...deep , warm clear water . The Kids will enjoy .
