CA 125

by Nena, Oct 09, 2000 12:00AM
My mother has been having problems for the last six months and no one can determine the root of her illness.  She was admited threee months ago for edema and ascities.  This was brought under control by diuretics.  A CA 125 test showed numbers of 2053 so she underwent tests for ovarian cancer with results negative. A second test recently showed the same number.
Thursday  of last week mom became very confused, disorientated, slurred speech.  She was admitted to the hospital and after two days of this confused state, it was determeined her blood ammonia levels were high.  Medication was given for this and she is now back to normal.  Today she will have a CAT scan on her liver.
Hepatitus (hepatitis) A shows positive.  Mom has continuing constipation. She has early morning nose bleeds and is constantly spitting up mucus.
Is there a pattern here that would lead to finding out what is wrong with mom.  Does the nose bleeding and spitting mucus pertain to her other symptoms.
Are there any questions I should be asking my doctor.
