CURIOUS ON RELAPSE

CURIOUS ON RELAPSE

I was wondering why some people relapse within a week some within a month and so on. Does it have anything to do with genotype, Fibrosis? If you relapse later does it mean you have a better chance of svr next time you treat than someone who relapses sooner. I was just wondering.

It depends on the timing of the testing, viral load and sensitivity.  Relapse can be a misnomer. To replapse the virus was not all gone in the first place.  Just not detected by tests and still 'hiding out' somewhere.  Discontinuing the peg and antiviral allows the virus to do what it does best, replicate.  Then it replicates to the point of PCR detectability, and that's where the timing comes in.  If you did not take your first post-treatment test until 6 months after your may think you 'relapsed' after 6 months, but it was really sooner.
